1772 voyage to Balambangan[edit]

A ship named Britannia transported soldiers and goods from India to Balambangan Island in 1772 [1]. Maybe it is the same ship? Mugsalot (talk) 12:50, 17 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Mugsalot: - Could well be the same Britannia. Do you have any other info that might help answer the question? Acad Ronin (talk) 14:27, 17 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@Mugsalot: - I have done a little digging and unfortunately it looks like there is one other good contender for Britannia, and a possible, lower probability third contender. I'll keep an eye out because it would be great if we could connect a vessel to the location.Acad Ronin (talk) 16:04, 17 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
The aforementioned Britannia sailed from England in the summer of 1771, arrived in Bombay in January 1772, then left in August 1772, and arived at Balambangan in December 1773 [2]. The ship was commanded by Captain John Herbert [3]. Mugsalot (talk) 16:16, 17 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@Mugsalot: Thanks for getting back to me. That info knocks out my prime contender for the vessel, and I can find no other candidates. Unfortunately, Lloyd's Register is not available for the relevant years so I can't use that. Lists of vessels built at Bombay or Calcutta show no likely candidate. List's of EIC ships also show nothing. I'll dig a little more, but not with strong hopes of finding anything. Acad Ronin (talk) 17:01, 17 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
