Title[edit]

I moved the article from "Bromberg district" to "Bromberg (region)" in accordance with the translation guide and the naming used in Category:Regierungsbezirk. Olessi 22:34, 30 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • This change is not reflecting the real meaning of Regierungsbezirk. The word District was better. The text behind Divisions is even more confusing, so I did not translated in the French Wikipédia, it should be rewritten.

And this article?[edit]

Bydgoszcz_District doubles the existing Bromberg (region)[edit]

As the term Kreis (or after 1939 mostly Landkreis, except in some German states such as German Democratic Republic, North Rhine-Westphalia and Schleswig-Holstein) is translated as district, the article Bydgoszcz District (Ger. Regierungsbezirk Bromberg) is a misnomer and its subject is covered by the existing article en:Bromberg (region). For the term Regierungsbezirk (literally government region or government ambit, for it covers several districts [Kreise]) the term region has been adopted when referring to such territorial entities outside Bavaria (where they have a double nature as state-side government regions and municipal-side self-rule entities, which is why they are translated as "administrative region". Region is the short version for all for administrative regions and government regions alike. Ulf Heinsohn (talk) 16:18, 28 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
