Merger proposal[edit]

I propose to merge Brookthorpe into Brookthorpe-with-Whaddon . I think that the content in the Brookthorpe article can easily be explained in the context of Brookthorpe-with-Whaddon , and the Brookthorpe-with-Whaddon article is of a reasonable size that the merging of Brookthorpe will not cause any problems as far as article size is concerned. — Rod talk 11:13, 17 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I think separate articles should be kept, I've added some more content to the village article. Even though "Brookthorpe" doesn't appear to have been a parish in its own right[1] villages usually merit their own article. Crouch, Swale (talk) 08:58, 19 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
OK I've removed the merge banners.— Rod talk 10:15, 22 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Thankyou, I'm not strongly against a merge but even though the village was never a CP it does seem like there is enough of a difference to keep separate articles, if the parish is renamed "Brookthorpe" then yes we would merge this article into that. @Rodw: I've found out why, it was a parish in its own right, in 1935 the parish of "Whaddon" was merged with "Brookthorpe" but the new parish was simply called "Brookthorpe" but in 1956 the new parish was renamed "Brookthorpe with Whaddon". I've added population data for 1931 to the Brookthorpe article which is the last data prior to the merge as standard so yes separate articles should be kept with the "Brookthorpe-with-Whaddon" article dealing with the new parish from 1935 (including the time the new parish was "Brookthorpe") and the "Brookthorpe" article dealing with the village and the old parish prior to 1935.
