to Products: Budget Direct sells vehicle, home & contents, life, health, travel and pet insurance, and roadside assistance. Source: https://www.finder.com.au/health-insurance/budget-direct KmoodyAus (talk) 00:46, 22 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Clarification needed: Budget Direct's website says that pet insurance is issued by The Hollard Insurance Company, and that the parent company of Budget Direct acts only as a referrer. Based on this, it seems that pet insurance should not be added. Altamel (talk) 01:01, 22 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Edit request[edit]

Number of employees and policy holders is now out of date - features 2013 figures in Operations section and info box. Correct info is: As at 15 November 2016 Budget Direct employs over 1300 people. Over the past 16 years Budget Direct has provided insurance to more than 1.5 million customers. Cite error: There are <ref> tags on this page without content in them (see the help page).http://www.noosanews.com.au/news/captain-risky-swoops-in-to-fund-kawana-surf-club/3111837/ KmoodyAus (talk) 01:24, 15 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there. I have updated the number of employees, choosing to omit the insurance part, as such updates should generally be added to something such as a history section, which is missing in the article. Regards, VB00 (talk) 16:55, 4 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed change to introduction content[edit]

Information to replace current introduction:

Budget Direct was established in 2000 and provides award winning Motor Insurance, Home Insurance, Motorcycle Insurance, Travel Insurance and Roadside Assistance products (1). By providing dependable insurance at a competitive price to online customers, they have been challenging the market dominance of older, more established insurers in Australia (2). Budget Direct have insured over 3 million customers throughout Australia (12).

Budget Direct policies are underwritten by Auto & General Insurance Company Limited (AGIC) and administered by Auto & General Services Pty Ltd (AGS) (3). AGIC and AGS are Australian companies regulated by APRA; licensed by ASIC to provide financial services; and are members of the Insurance Council of Australia (3). Auto & General employ over 1,700 people and have partnership agreements with hundreds of car repairers and building contractors nationwide (4).

Auto & General is part of the international BHL Group, which has over 8,000 employees across 31 offices and over 8.9 million customers worldwide, and includes one of the largest direct personal lines insurers in South Africa, and one of the largest personal lines insurance intermediaries in the United Kingdom (4).

Explanation of issue: New introduction provides more information about the company. Proposed content is intended to replace existing introduction.

Hi Bzanki, and thank you for your suggestions. I am declining this edit request because your proposed text is too promotional and does not adhere to Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy. Wikipedia is not a vehicle for advertising, marketing or public relations, but the purpose of your proposed text is clearly to win over prospective customers and investors. As such, it cannot be added to the article unless it is substantially rewritten. The most obvious red flags are phrases that are frequently used in press releases, but are not appropriate for an encyclopedia. These include claims that Budget Direct's insurance is "dependable" and "challenging the market dominance of older, more established insurers." For these reasons, I am declining this edit request.
