CNN Bikini reference[edit]

In case anyone wants to work it into the article, the CNN story is legit. see [1] Brian 18:28, 11 June 2007 (UTC)btball[reply]

  • I've taken care of it. Brian 12:06, 12 June 2007 (UTC)btball[reply]

The MindsEyes' edits[edit]

The MindsEyes edits have generally made this a better article. There are more references now, and less unsubstantiated statements. I still disagree that a link to Yeager's home page, in this case, is within policy. It's just a promo site selling product and falls withing the guideline for what should not be linked. But I won't get into a revert war. I also disagree that there is any evidence that Yeager was ever a model (except for herself, and maybe that's what The MindsEye is considering). So yes, she took pictures of herself and sells them. To me, that does not make her a model. But again, I won't get into a revert war. I'm fine with the article as is, I still think it's just a spamming puff piece for her written either by her or a friend of hers, so is vanity. At one time it was just cut and past from her website and could have been deleted as copyvio, but that's all been resolved in the recent set of eidts. Brian 21:47, 12 June 2007 (UTC)btball[reply]

If Yeager's site is just a promo site selling product (and even if it's compounded by frames, iframes, Javascript and Flash crapola) -- and I haven't looked -- it should be linked. Or anyway that's my interpretation of WP:LINKS. -- Hoary 00:10, 14 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  • Not my reading of WP:LINK ... but the link is back in, and I won't revert (someone else may). The overall intent of external links is to add value to an article. WP:LINKS then goes into cases of what does and doesn't normally add value. An example of what does is the "official page" of the subject of an article. And an example of what normally doesn't is a site for purely promotional purposes. When the two are in conflict (the official page being a promotional page) then I believe you have to step back and consider what this is all about. It's about building an encyclopedia and external links are solely for the purpose of adding value to the article. In my opinion the Yeager link doesn't add value. But another editor disagreed and the link is back. So, I'll let it stand. But that doesn't change my understanding of WP:LINKS ... external links are for the purpose of adding value to the article that couldn't easily otherwise be added in the mainline text of the article ... Article could use a little work[edit]

There seems to be a promotional bent leaning toward recent representation of Yeager and exhibitions organized by her commercial representation. The Warhol museum exhibit is one of the most notable exhibitions of her work as it represents recognition in the "high brow" world of art museums. The article also has very little discussion of her extensive work for/involvement with Playboy.

I have added some content to the further reading section added some references and I will post a few here.

OK, I did some work on the article. I think I balanced out the promotionality. Still needed for inclusion: Extent of work with Playboy, extensive publication in "gentleman's magazines" of the 50s and 60s, moving out of magazine feature photography in the 70s as photos became very graphic, credited with bringing photography of women to level of art, praise by Diane Arbus, technique (early photographic use of "fill flash", credited with popularizing the bikini in America and designing and making many, degree of importance and impact. - - MrBill3 (talk) 19:00, 20 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Alrighty then, most of the above worked into article. The only thing I see lacking now is some more bikinis. - - MrBill3 (talk) 21:26, 20 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Time Gap[edit]

The period when Ms Yeager went international for the first time ever (i.e. outside the United States of America) and had exhibitions of her photographic works in Berlin and Potsdam (both cities in Germany, Europe) is missing in the article. Is there any sound reason for excluding this information from the reader of the article? If not, this info and links to articles from the local (Berlin, Potsdam) and national (Germany) press about the events as well as background info should be included.

The later career finally has been updated in a very scholarly manner. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2003:45:490F:6FEC:2066:B220:F5A1:3FBE (talk) 21:22, 7 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
