Currently the article says that waste is disposed of to municipal sewers. But the paper it cites was written before the tower was completed, and there are numerous more recent published articles saying that, in common with some other large buildings in Dubai, the waste is actually removed by a stream of trucks because the city services are insufficiently developed. The plumbing section should be updated accordingly. 145.40.161.188 (talk) 20:20, 10 August 2021 (UTC)

it is obvious that wikipedia has been manipulated to hide some embarrassing facts (one example on reddit). i think that a link to sanitation in Dubai is mandatory though that very article strangely doesn't mention the burj khalifa problem when sources are abundant (inhabitat, smithsonian mag, gizmodo) − 2A01:E0A:4EA:8C50:ECEA:FD81:6B09:D1A1 (talk) 21:33, 10 August 2021 (UTC)
The Smithsonian Mag source just links to Inhabitat, which is described as a blog and probably not a great RS. The Gizmodo source link back to an NPR interview and transcript, which is probably much better. There's also a Salon page that traces back to the same NPR interview.
That said, this all ultimately comes from Kate Ascher, who also wrote a book on the subject of skyscrapers at the time. She does suggest that "there is a municipal system that is being invested in, and I assume will connect all of these tall buildings at some point in the near future".
The current source for disposal to the municipal sewers does seem to be legitimate. However, it only says that "a point of connection with the city municipal sewer is provided" from all its internal facilities— Not that it's actually hooked up to the city or even that the city would be able to support it, which was the idea challenged by Ascher.
So AFAICT, the facts per RS are as follows:
  • The building itself technically has the ability to be connected to a municipal sewer system.
  • The municipal infrastructure was not actually able to support the building when it was finished.
  • Because of that, the building did in fact have to have its waste removed by a stream of trucks.
  • This may have changed over time, but I could not find any RS saying so.
Intralexical (talk) 13:01, 11 August 2021 (UTC)
Here is the revision that added the current information about the sewer connection ability.
Here is the revision that removed the text "truck"— Though it's been hidden, and based on earlier revisions I think it might have found an unrelated substring instead.
Intralexical (talk) 13:17, 11 August 2021 (UTC)
Given that the existing text, claiming that the waste water system drains to the 'city municipal sewer' was written before the Burj was completed (and consists of 'solutions proposed' by the architects), it cannot possibly be WP:RS for the connection actually existing, and accordingly I have removed the statement. no sewers

not mentioned in the "plumbing" section is the fact that, like most of Dubais skyscrapers, there is no sewer connection, all wastes are trucked out of the city instead.

i would have thought it warrents a mention at least. 82.9.104.192 (talk) 10:58, 18 August 2021 (UTC)

As you will see above, the issue has been discussed, and at various times the article has said various things on the subject. The problem however is one of sourcing. It appears from what I've been able to ascertain that the Burj Khalifa itself has always had a fully-functioning internal sewage system built in, but when the Burj was completed, it wasn't connected to the existing infrastructure, which was then unable to cope, hence the trucks. In more recent times, work appears to have been done on the Dubai sewerage infrastructure, leading to claims that the trucks are no longer needed. If this is actually the case, what the article needs is a proper summary of the entire story from start to finish: plans, trucks, and eventual solution. But we can't do that unless we have the sources to do so, and most of what we've seen so far is problematic, one way or another: either because it doesn't meet Wikipedia's requirements for reliable sourcing, or because it is dated, and doesn't give a full chronology. If what you say is true, and even now the Burj isn't connected to the infrastructure, the article should clearly say so, but we need a source for that. A credible one, rather than yet another copy-cat YouTube video showing a line of orange trucks that may or may not have been carrying Burj Khalifa sewage at some unspecified point in time. Likewise, if the Burj sewerage system is functionally connected, we need a proper source for that too - one stating when the connection was made, rather than merely asserting that it was in the plans from the start. Failing sourcing for either, it is probably wiser to say nothing than go through endless cycles of edit-warring over things we don't have the full story on. "Surpassed by"

The article infobox currently lists "Jeddah Tower (expected)" in the "surpassed by" section. As Burj Khalifa is presented in the article as currently the tallest building in the world, I believe it is more reasonable not to have a "surpassed by" section yet. Let it be added when it indeed is surpassed - or "if" it is, as the Jeddah Tower's construction is currently halted with no prevision of conclusion. Anyone agrees / disagrees? Thank you. In the article, it states "The building has 57 elevators and 8 escalators.[44] The elevators have a capacity of 12 to 14 people per cabin, the fastest rising and descending at up to 10 m/s (33 ft/s) for double-deck elevators. However, the world's fastest single-deck elevator still belongs to Taipei 101 at 16.83 m/s (55.2 ft/s). Engineers had considered installing the world's first triple-deck elevators, but the final design called for double-deck elevators.[24] The double-deck elevators are equipped with entertainment features such as LCD displays to serve visitors during their travel to the observation deck.[56] The building has 2,909 stairs from the ground floor to the 160th floor.[57]."

However, the fastest elevators are not in Taipei 101 as they are in the Guangzhou CTF Finance Center, with its top speed of 21 meters per second. JonathanLi12 (talk) 15:11, 19 December 2022 (UTC)

Hymenocalis - not a desert plant

Under Features: Park, this line appears:

"Like the tower, the park's design was based on the flower of the Hymenocallis, a desert plant."

Hymenocallis is not a desert plant. It's native to the Americas, and while it's drought-tolerant once established, it grows mostly in swamps and other wet environments. 199.120.252.122 (talk) 18:31, 2 August 2023 (UTC)

The floor plan is no longer correct.

There are 3 groups of floors with an observation deck that can be visited at the Burj Khalifa. (see: https://tickets.atthetop.ae/atthetop/en-us ). The highest group with an outdoor observation deck comprises of floors 152-153 and 154. This is called "World’s highest lounge". Secondly you have floor 148 with an observation deck and which is called "At the Top, Burj Khalifa SKY". Lastly you have floors 124 and 125 that can be visited, which is referred to as "At the Top, Burj Khalifa". LodeVdd (talk) 07:53, 22 August 2023 (UTC)
