They had won the first half of the season in 1935-36 and unfortunately stumbled in the first round of the National Challenge Cup losing to Marres. They had previously been unbeaten against Marres during that season. Libro0 (talk) 07:53, 18 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

In September 1935 Phil Kavanaugh, manager of H&G, turned over his spanish players to Spanish Sport Club(later Burke's). They proved to be hard to replace. The SSC, fortified with the new talent, proved to be unbeatable and it wasn't until the first half was nearly over that Burke's was finally scored on by none other than Kavanaugh's H&G team.
