Untitled[edit]

Is it worth mentioning that Byfleet is mentioned in War of the Worlds - at Byfleet they came across an empty inn and it was here that the protagonist took to the river and was scalded by the heat ray following the decapitation of one of the walkers by artillery? --81.101.136.128 (talk) 11:34, 1 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I'd say so. But having never read the book and not having a copy to hand I'm loathed to add anything myself. Vanillav (talk) 20:17, 16 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Explanation needed[edit]

"an inland island village" what does this mean?  Tigerboy1966  06:59, 2 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Agree: This is un-cited nonsense. Towns and villages between rivers and canals (and the M25) are seldom described as islands. I've lived in Byfleet 20 years, and never been called an islander or heard of the term being used in this context.  SurreyJohn   (Talk) 14:16, 20 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
