Graph Upgrade?

Our current new daily cases and death charts are getting large and hard to read. An alternative would be to use a less precise but easier to read style as used at Statistics of the COVID-19 pandemic in the United States. We could also add a "pretty" smoothed moving average line (but that would add to the daily maintenance burden). Rmhermen (talk) 22:04, 13 January 2021 (UTC)

Referencing problems

TomCat4680 your recent updates to the article have created several referencing errors. Are you able to fix them? Looks like you've just updated reference names without updating the actual references, which means that there's really viable sourcing for the changes you've made. -- Mikeblas (talk) 21:28, 26 February 2021 (UTC)

possible typo?

The death numbers for 4/15/2021 are not consistent. If the number of deaths was 112, the number of deaths should be greater by 2 than the number given.

These numbers appear in multiple places in this page. Could you point out which one you are referring to? Rmhermen (talk) 21:35, 19 April 2021 (UTC)

Splitting Cumulative Figures Into An Average Across Days in the Period Reported

I would like to mention a talk subject I made at Template_talk:COVID-19_pandemic_data/United_States_medical_cases/Michigan#Splitting_Sunday/Monday_Cumulative_Figures_Into_An_Average_Across_2_Days. Although originally written for when the State started publishing cumulative figures for Sunday/Monday, it's even more important of an issue now that the State is only publishing figures on Tuesdays and Fridays. The article is too long now

The article is now 65 kB, which means it should be shortened or split off per WP:SIZERULEs. Any suggestions as to how that can be accomplished? Love of Corey (talk) 04:53, 10 October 2021 (UTC)

Hi Love of Corey, I'm guessing that the 65KB size is reported by the DYKcheck? (Which I don't have installed.) Scrolling through the current state of the page it seems that most of the text comes from the References and the statistics table. Running the tool through the template should yield a sizeable number. The only thing I can think of is to make the statistics table collapsable by default. I was going to suggest the same for the references table but this section (linked here) recommends against it. The page has not yet reached (100K + statistics table) for word count so I think it's fine as-is for now.

Another option down the road would be to spin off the timeline into its own page (it would also take between 1/8th-1/9th of the references with it). Actually looking at it again, about 1/2 of the references come from the statistics table as well! Spinning the statistics page off into its own page first would make more sense in that case (and only show the graphs on this page). The template can easily be customized to serve both pages. --Stux (talk) 11:45, 12 October 2021 (UTC)
