I rewrote this article and tried to use as much as I could from the previous one. I dropped the references to "average" VCore because I didn't think it meant anything or referred to anything specifically. There are plenty of modern processors that fall out of the 1.0 - 1.5 volt range, both higher and lower. I think a list of VCores of CPUs (popular, modern, whatever...) would be a good addition to this article.

I know an Athlon 64 Winchester core runs at 1.4 Volts with a heat output of about 60 watts and an old Athlon XP 1700 Palomino runs at 1.7 volts with a heat-output of about 75 watts, Hi i am Pyro Computer Dude i made the above post and i am the original poster of this (used to be ip 24.bla bla bla)

Right, that data would be good to have in an organized fashion. I don't think we can make any categorical statement about the average CPU until we have data to referrence. Also, don't you think the info about tom's hardware's overclock would be more in-place in the overvolting article? Maybe in passing. The article needs to be cohesive and shouldn't try to go beyond its scope.. It could be mentioned that the vcore is determined from an external source, and that that source maintains the voltage. Merge VCore into this article[edit]

Please can someone merge VCore into this article? As of right now, the VCore article is very underwhelming, but does have some good links. I think there should be a merge and redirect. - JustinWick 01:20, 20 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

merge[edit]

I suggest merging dual-voltage CPU into CPU core voltage. While they are not exactly the same thing, they are closely related so I think a single encyclopedia article can cover both topics, with a single sentence describing the connection between them: "A dual-voltage CPU is a CPU where the core voltage is different from the I/O voltage." --DavidCary (talk) 14:40, 19 June 2014 (UTC) Done Klbrain (talk) 20:24, 14 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Changing Article from CPU Core Voltage to[edit]

I read the dual-voltage section and I saw that it was very outdated information. I added a new section that expands on the dual-voltage CPU notion to multi-voltage CPU.

I suggest that the article should be about CPU voltages in general, and not just CPU core voltage. Since there aren't any wikipedia articles about all the other voltages in a CPU and the article already contained the dual-voltage CPU section that also introduced other CPU voltages apart from the core voltage.
