The language around the exclusion of Brian from the patent seems to be expressing an opinion. As long as opinions are being expressed .... IMO Brian should have been included in the patent for uttering the seminal thought that led to the invention.

I propose the merging of Header Error Control into CRC-based framing because the content in Header Error Control seems to be covered, nearly completely, in CRC-based framing. Are there any comments from users who know more about these topics? Thank you for your time. Captpossum (talk) 14:50, 18 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

First invented much earlier[edit]

This article claims that StrataCom's patent is the first description of CRC-based framing, and that was filed in February 1990.

However, Radio Data System uses a form of CRC-based framing, and this was published in March 1984.

So, credit for the invention probably lies with the BBC (who developed that part of RDS). --Streapadair (talk) 17:05, 26 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]
