Cibber a Danish sculptor? Schleswig a Danish province?[edit]
It is highly questionable to categorize Cibber as a Danish sculptor and Schleswig a Danish province. Like most people in his hometown Flensburg he probably didn't even speak Danish but German, and the duchy Schleswig was not part of the kingdom of Denmark (like a province) but set apart as a duchy. There was a dynastic union between the duchies Schleswig, Holstein and the Danish kingdom, just like the dynastic union between Denmark and Norway. One wouldn't call Norwegian artists of the time Danish, would one? Thus a Flensburg sculptor shouldn't be called Danish, either.141.91.129.7 (talk) 12:44, 9 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
