California Digital Library page[edit]

Craig: I'm going to focus on the tools and ways that the CaDL differentiates itself in information retrieval. I will focus specifically on the information in the "Discovery and Delivery" section of the CaDL website.

Alex: I plan to focus on access and publishing in regard to the CaDL. This will encompass the eScholarship, eScholarship PLUS, Online Archive of California, Calisphere, and UC Libraries Digital Collection sections of the CaDL website. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Astubbs12 (talkcontribs) 21:56, 18 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Jillian: I plan to focus on the ways in which books are digitized and the goals that the CaDL seeks to accomplish by doing this. I am focusing on the information in the "UC Libraries Mass Digitization Projects" section of the CaDL website. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jillianbass (talkcontribs) 15:44, 8 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Spencer: I am going to write about the history of the California Digital Library (CDL) and it's relationship with the Online Archive of California (OAC). I will include the CDL's contributions to the OAC as well as its individual programs that have been initiated since the OAC's integration into the CDL in 1998. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Spenchag (talkcontribs) 19:09, 18 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

David: Hey guys sorry I didn't post until now. I will be discussing the Mission, Vision, and Values of California Digital Library, along with adding several citations to other wiki articles. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Witters278 (talkcontribs) 17:33, 19 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Review of California Digital Library[edit]

Hi guys! To start off, your article is nicely parsed out with useful subheadings, especially because as a Digital Library not many people would be familiar with the services provided. There is a nice weight to each section that gives the overall entry a comfortable sense of being adequately fleshed out, but there are a few touch-ups that could polish it. Perhaps a picture or logo would help with the visual aspect, and if a term has its own Wiki page it wouldn’t hurt to include a link to it (for example, Melvyl). In addition, there were only one or two minor grammatical errors. Overall, I liked that the segments followed a logical progression in regards to what is done with the information. Alexis Leftakes Review[edit]

I think the article is very organized and easy to read which is definitely a great thing for a Wikipedia article. The layout was great because it starts off with the more basic information then step by step contains more information about the California Digital Library. It had a very natural flow of information which was great. There was just the right amount of detail for each service of the library. I do think that some outside connections could have been made. For example, do other libraries use similar services as CaDL and if so, do they prove to be beneficial to other libraries? How does CaDL compare to other libraries and does it have more or less success because of the services they provide? Other than that, this article was very well written and very informative. Great job!

Review of California Digital Media Library[edit]

To begin, I felt that this article was nicely organized and easily navigated thanks to the useful subtitles and headings that you added. Within each major section, you were able to add more detail on each topic by creating subheadings and expanding on them in detail throughout the article. Each of your sections were developed and had enough information to be considered important to add onto the article and I felt like you were able to find applicable information for each section. I do feel as if you could have maybe gotten a wider array of sources along the lines of other systems that are similar or something like that. Also, even though your headings and the dissection of the sections were asthetically pleasing, a picture could have made it even better and more pleasing to the eye. Overall, good job! CaDL vs CDL[edit]

Where does CaDL come from? It is just "CDL". 50.0.83.84 (talk) 00:31, 3 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Template:OAC[edit]

Hello there, fixed the format of this page to make it more typical of a talk page. Hope that was okay. I am writing because I was thinking of setting up a GLAM external links template to digitized objects at CDL (using hopefully Template:OAC to reflect url link at the Online Archive of California) and wanted to mention it here. I have been slowly creating new templates for different entities as I have been participating in Editathons. I stumbled across CDL and thought it would be a great candidate. Here is a link to a few others: Category:Museum_external_link_templates. Any thoughts on this, yay or nay? BrillLyle (talk) 01:31, 3 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Ah, my friend who had the template page just gave the okay to use the abbreviation OAC, so I set up the template. I hope it will be useful.
Here's an example of how it can be used (very simple form):
