Major update[edit]

I provided a lot of information, but this page needs to be updated with a lot more information. The history section, especially, needs a lot more information. Bretjb 17:55, 10 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Annuity Option and income tax[edit]

If I win a lottery prize that has an annuity (e.g. 26 years of payout) option, what are the income tax implications of selecting the annuity over the lump sum payout? Presumably the annual annuity payments are what is taxed but I'm wondering why the IRS wouldn't claim that the present value of the prize is your "income" for the year you won the prize in. not clear if education is getting the original required percentage, or more, or less[edit]

have the funds been diverted to other uses besides education? something is very vague here.

A section on the purpose of the lottery and what it funds is currently non-existent. 75.111.15.70 (talk) 22:10, 10 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Why is a person asked to give ID from the store who sellers lotto tickets. 2600:1700:6400:12E0:10BE:9E6C:C365:541E (talk) 02:27, 13 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Super Lotto Annuity[edit]

It appears that the information about the annuity schedule with regard to the SuperLotto is outdated, and that the SuperLotto has the same annuity schedule as Mega Millions and Powerball. https://static.www.calottery.com/-/media/Project/calottery/PWS/PDFs/About-Us-Docs/California-Lottery-Regulations-52721.pdf?rev=5f30f3764a4f46858359fb4b4f3827ed&hash=7FC74BF184A2BA7938B6DB321CC7B7FB Dawindler (talk) 01:39, 31 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
