Railroad[edit]

We need more about this railroad. See http://www.northlouisianatrainshow.org/whats_new_1_files/C&P.html http://web.archive.org/web/20070304175258/http://lrs.railstuff.net/r-cpmr.htm It ran from Camp Claiborne -- on the Missouri Pacific south of Alexandria -- westward 48 miles to Camp Polk -- on the Kansas City Southern south of Leesville. Construction began on 4 September 1941 and the Golden Spike ceremony was held on 11 July 1942. In October 1942, the soldiers who had built the CPMR shipped out to Iran, where they helped operate the strategically important Trans-Iranian Railroad. After the end of World War II, most traces of the CPMR and Camp Claiborne quickly disappeared; but the foundation of the locomotive shop and other remnants can still be found

Division Serving[edit]

Need to know all the Divisions that did training at this camp. I have created units serving and added what I could find. --Sattmaster (talk) 17:20, 30 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I've been adding to my list of units, and will add them here as soon as I update my own Claiborne website. Bakerco502 (talk) 20:41, 13 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Ok I run the other camp site. Sattmaster (talk)

Today[edit]

Camp Claiborne today is mostly full of trails an mud and stuff like that. 72.155.251.126 (talk) 21:24, 16 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

In addition to trails and mud, many miles of original camp road, concrete foundations as well as a few structures remain. Since 2007 a few areas have been blocked off for a bat estuary. Check the camp claiborne site(link in wiki) to see there is alot more than just mud and trails.
