Camp Mather is an important camp location just outside Yosemite National Park.

September rejection and major rewrite[edit]

Hi, I see you tagged this article draft https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Camp_Mather_(San_Francisco_Recreation_and_Parks) with a Conflict of Interest WP: COI. I can't see how to respond to this charge. I have never been an employee of the camp, am not (and never have been) on any board associated with the camp, have not been an employee or volunteer with the City of San Francisco (in any capacity or location), or any such relationship. I have been a customer (camper) at the Camp. Does that establish a COI? How should this be resolved and identified? Thanks! MikeVdP (talk) 04:46, 8 September 2022 (UTC)[reply][reply]

OK, working with an online editor, we came up with four pages of updates. Sections have been removed and much cleaned up.

footnotes have become footnotes, not references
the structures section is gone
the geology section is gone
the biology section is gone
excess External links are gone (and renamed)

For notability, please note that there is an entire book about Camp Mather (Arcadia Books, 2008) and Camp Mather is a key part of the book "Hetch Hetchy and its Dam Railroad." There are scores of newspaper articles. I understand that it doesn't matter how many folks attend a camp, or how long it has run, who owns / operates it (a major US city) or its role in a key water vs. conservation fight, the key issue is, "what independent, significant sources have written about it?" I think this passes the test.

For conflict of interest, I fully disclose that I am not and have never been an employee or volunteer at the Camp or at any San Francisco city operation. I have been a camper at the camp. While I was born in San Francisco, I have not been a resident since 1957.

The article attempts to be concise and to cover key issues. I don't think an advertisement would include the fires, the fire closures, the smoke, the viruses and the virus closures. Nope, working for information, not promotion.
