I'm adding this request here, partly because I can never remember where the article requests section for WP:Canada is, and partly because it's more likely a Londoner will be able to create the page (and also get a nice pic). I'm not sure that the BC Government still operates it, as I remember some budget cuts a number of years ago that may have shut it down - ?? - although I vaguely remember an uproar about it from our business community so maybe it was reinstated...It was on Pall Mall just near the gates that lead from the main area of buildings towards the palace....Skookum1 (talk) 16:10, 6 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Interesting, all blue links....I'm not sure about this at all, but I think BC House might date from the colonial period, i.e. when there was a reason for a separate imperial "legation" for the Pacific colony...I noted that Canada House dates from well before Confederation, so I'm just guessing but sometime between 1858 and 1871 is when BC House got built; the absence, so far as I know, of a Vancouver Island House suggests between 1866, when the colonies were united, and 1871.Skookum1 (talk) 16:12, 6 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
British Columbia House is now located at offices on Regent Street - providing both travel advice, and representing specific business interests of BC within the UK. Quebec still maintains offices on Pall Mall; and other provinces are represented within the High Commission offices in Mayfair. (The governments all have a 'consular' status in London; Canada itself has High Commissioner status). Web searches bring up a lot of 'chuff' relating to the modern buildings, so I can't identify anything specific on the 'old' building. I'm going to Marlborough House on Wednesday, so I'll take a look, but I think it will have been 'excised' from history. HTH Kbthompson (talk) 17:03, 6 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I think the original location was built as British Columbia House, but I'm not sure about that; cant' remember if it was engraved on the lintel/facade or not, but taht would have since been changed; my London street geography is fuzzy, haven't been there for a while; it may have been "outside" the gates, towards the Palace...I was in it back in 1976, so obviously a lot has happened since then huh?
