Number[edit]

I think that to try to put a number next to the player is not imporant. Especially that it is always changing for most of the players.

POV[edit]

Okay, why does the first sentence mention about the team not succeeding so well? --84.249.252.211 12:02, 11 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Look, that's not POV: They aren't succeding. They haven't even qualified for the world cup since the early 80's. -Kookykman|(t)e 17:48, 24 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
The whole lead section is pretty negative. It should have a more neutral point of view.--SaskatchewanSenator (talk) 07:35, 15 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Players[edit]

I will reedit the section on the players, so people will be able to see the last call up.--Soopafred 18:15, 3 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Great work so far, but will you be cleaning up the forwards to be consistent with the other players? Jmcnally 18:29, 25 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry. I didn`t have time to finish it because I forgot about it. --Soopafred 14:35, 25 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Should the roster of the 1986 World Cup team be placed in the history section? It is our biggest feat. It would also be nice as kind of a where are they now. --Coppercanuck (talk) 04:15, 16 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

just checking[edit]

"Maple Leaves" or "Maple Leafs" ?

Tahrlis 22:02, 4 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Don't know, but I'd prefer Maple Leaves. --curling rock Earl Andrew - talk 00:58, 5 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Isn't Maple Leaves a name people use in a derogatory way when talking about the Toronto Maple Leafs? Is it really a nickname for the Canadian NT? --Bigdottawa 21:46, 8 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I believe you're thinking of "Maple Laughs" --curling rock Earl Andrew - talk 21:55, 8 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Former MNT numbers[edit]

Do we seriously need to list every player with over ten caps since the 1920s? I was going to edit it, but I wasn't sure what I should do. DamionOWA 06:36, 20 August 2006 (UTC) EDIT: also the full table of our all-time records. Do we need that? The article is pretty long.[reply]

the over ten caps is informative and found no place else. i d like to the all-times results records go though. i also restored the player pool tables Mayumashu 14:10, 31 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Kit colours[edit]

Panarjedde insists that this line in Template talk:Football kit means representations of colours only are what a kit is for: "To create a new pattern template follow the examples below. When you have created a new pattern please add it to the list below. Do not create patterns for minor details on a kit, the template is for showing basic team colours. It is not supposed to be an accurate drawing of the kit." Now, I admit that it says "basic team colours", but if all that was intended was the showing of colours, then we'd have a box with colours listed, not a depiction of the jersey. Read the kit template talk and you'll see there's little consensus as to what exactly the "right" way to use the kit template is, but most conflict is over the addition of features much more minor than the ones that have been on this kit for a month prior to Panarjedde's changes. It's clear by a look around the kit template and football teams articles that while the jerseys are not an attempt at reproduction, they are an attempt at a fair depiction of the kit. Panarjedde's version has black or white sides on the shirt where the jersey clearly only has one side coloured. Plenty of football kits around Wikipedia have features such as this depicted correctly. The following three are examples of the kit depicted before I made my edits, after my edits, and after Panarjedde's edits. I stand by my edits.  OzLawyer / talk  12:59, 10 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Forthcoming fixtures[edit]

I see the forthcoming fixtures and recent results were removed. The person doing so, seemed to be pointing to that the information should be at Wikinews, however there is no information I could find there at all, on the Canadian national soccer team. I can see a lot of valid reasons that this information shouldn't be here. However for the information to not be here, other criteria needs to be achieved. I think the information needs to be elsewhere, and the location of that information should be listed here. Nfitz 18:35, 26 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Why is the CMNT CSA crest not the same as the CWNT crest on wiki? (unsigned comment by 70.50.181.231 02:47, 25 January 2007)

Is it possible for someone to upload a new CSA logo, one of better quality which doesn't have a shadow behind it? I would do it myself but I don't know how to convert images to PNG. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Run34 (talkcontribs) 10:30, 26 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Squad trimming[edit]

The listed squad has 43 people in it. The first thing that jumps out to me are the 4 players listed with no callups; second, the three players with callups but no caps, third, the seven players that haven't been called up since 2005 or earlier (including the three with callups and no caps). You could concievably give Daniel Imhof an exception for having 32 caps, but a lot of other players are listed without really needing to be.

Does anyone have a problem with clipping Asmir Begovic (0 caps), Mike Franks (0 caps), Rhian Dodds (0 caps), Antonio Ribiero (0 caps), Nikolas Ledgerwood (0 caps), Dave Simpson (0 caps), Alen Marcina (0 caps), Joshua Wagenaar (1 cap, last seen 2005), Rosso Placentino (1 cap, last seen 2005), Ive Sulentic (2 caps, last seen 2005), Tony Menezes (27 caps, last seen 2004), and Daniel Imhof (32 caps, last seen 2005) from the squad list? That would bring the total down to 31. Does anyone have any other submissions for excise from the list?

I almost think that the whole squad section should be replaced with whoever goes to the Gold Cup, and we can just continue our process from there. DamionOWA 19:18, 7 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I agree. Way to many players listed. Go with whoever played in the gold cup OR maybe whoever else has played a full national game in 2007. User: RKing85 July 5, 2007

History?[edit]

Shouldn't there be a history section? This whole article seems to deal with the team after 2006, when it's had a long, eventful history before then (the 1986 World Cup appearance, 2000 Gold Cup victory). I know it may not a "positive" history, but it's still one that has to be recounted. -RomeW 02:37, 27 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Catliff/Mitchelll[edit]

Why does the infobox list both Catliff and Mitchell as joint top-scorers with 19, while the table of all-time leading scorers lower on the page has Mitchell at 19 and Catliff at 18? I personally thought they were both tied at 19, but I can only assume someone disputes one of Catliff's goals and has edited the page to reflect that? -Themodelcitizen 03:44, 4 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Maybe it's just a typo? GiantSnowman (talk) 16:15, 5 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I've updated the table with the information from the RSSSF. Somewhere, either the CSA or Wikipedia messed up their page, and the other one updated itself incorrectly in turn. Hopefully the CSA will soon reflect the accurate history, which I believe is now represented on Wiki. - Themodelcitizen (talk) 06:43, 12 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
For more on this see the discussion at http://canadian-soccer.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=15699 , it looks as though Mitchell is the sole leader at 19. Still doesn't explain why the CSA's website listed them tied at 19 for the better part of 5 years from 2000-2005. - Themodelcitizen (talk) 20:25, 08 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

-- All Canadian Soccer Association stats have been proofed/properly databased from 2007-2011, so unfortunately mistakes do exist in pre-2007 publications. Likely mistake was assignment of a Catliff "B" goal to his "A" column. Correct stats - Mitchell 19 "A" goals, Catliff 18 "A" goals. - Richard Scott, Canadian Soccer Association — Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.210.173.222 (talk) 00:05, 16 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

History/template[edit]

I've updated the article with an extensive history, incorporating what was already there, and conforming to the template for national football teams according to the Wiki project as best I could. Feel free to update/tweak the setup, its a bit cluttered, but I felt it was important to include the history section (as pointed out by RomeW below). - Themodelcitizen (talk) 08:43, 12 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Updates[edit]

Updated with caps, DeRo's goal in the record scorers table, and the Martinique result. Whether or not it was an official FIFA friendly, it was a CONCACAF game, and the ELO rankings will reflect it. If we played them in the Gold Cup it would count, friendlies are no different. We need all the matches we can get. Let's keep this as accurate as possible, there were mistakes in here that it appeared the CSA used in its website. I've used the RSSSF statistics in the past as they seem to be more accurate.

I've also updated a few sections like managers, if anyone has more information about nationalities for guys like McAllister, please fill it in. I've moved the long lists of players with caps to the linked article, as it was getting way too cluttered. If anyone wants to clean it up further go ahead. There's also a few players I didn't put into the list of squad members (jakovic, etc), but I can get to that if no one else does. Themodelcitizen (talk) 05:32, 31 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Category renaming[edit]

Removed cfdnotice, cfd has completed. --Kbdank71 16:28, 9 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Clean-up[edit]

I made a records page and moved some of the clutter over there, as it was lots of useful info, but the page was becoming difficult to read. If people think the caps/goalscorers table was more appropriate here, we can move it back, but better to keep it in just 1 place as it will be easier to update. I believe these numbers are accurate, the CSA had incorrect numbers on their website for a bit but I think they had just copied the wrong numbers from wiki. - Themodelcitizen (talk) 23:55, 1 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

OK - granted the Canada Soccer website is rebuilding its online database, but note that all official Canadian Soccer Association records are indeed kept offline. They are published in an annual Canada Soccer Yearbook. I'll read through and make sure all the numbers look good. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Richardscott187 (talkcontribs) 03:23, 10 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

History - 1994[edit]

The 8-0 loss to Mexico was in the '93 Gold Cup and not in World Cup qualifying. In qualifying for '94 we made it all the way to the CONCACAF/OFC Playoff which we lost. I would change it but I'm not all that familiar with hyperlinking, etc in wikipedia, so hopefullly someone else will. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.87.68.128 (talk) 02:31, 7 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You are correct. It's not hard to make changes. You should give it a try! Check out the Wikipedia:Welcoming committee for advice on how to get started.
I'll change that Mexico loss to the Gold Cup. The 1990's section is missing a lot of stuff and it would be great if someone would add to it.--SaskatchewanSenator (talk) 21:32, 9 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Umm, the Columbus Cup and Caribana Cup weren't what I meant when I suggested adding to the 90's section. I don't think these friendlies are notable enough to be in the article.--SaskatchewanSenator (talk) 18:59, 11 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Then add to it yourself, man. I had found some rare information on friendly tournaments played in the 90s and added them, if that's not good enough, don't come on this page and ask people to populate the history sectionn (that I basically wrote in its entirety a few months ago because the page was bare) because you're unwilling or unable. Themodelcitizen (talk)

1990 NAFC Championship[edit]

Is it relevant to this article what CONCACAF does not list on its web site? I think that statement should be removed.--SaskatchewanSenator (talk) 21:50, 9 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Since there were no objections I'll remove it.--SaskatchewanSenator (talk) 20:18, 18 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I think it was relevant, if only because people might wonder why there's little information on the tournament elsewhere on wikipedia and the web. If they follow up by checking CONCACAF's website, they might be surprised to see the 1990 tournament not listed on the NAFC Championship page. - Themodelcitizen (talk)
That argument holds some weight for including that detail in the NAFC Championship article, not here.--SaskatchewanSenator (talk) 21:35, 12 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Stadium[edit]

Why are the venues of the 2007 FIFA Under-20 World Cup listed in the stadium section?--SaskatchewanSenator (talk) 22:31, 19 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

They were there because they've been used as soccer stadiums in a FIFA event. The article looks a lot less cluttered without them. Speaking of which, whoever moved over the caps/goals tables from the records page seems to have just created more clutter on this page, I think casual readers will just skim through the multitude of tables on here. That stuff is better left to the records page. I could also move the history section I wrote a while ago to a dedicated article. - Themodelcitizen (talk) 20:47, 12 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Canada national football team?[edit]

Soccer is the name of this sport in Canadian English. Canada men's national soccer team is the correct name for this article.--SaskatchewanSenator (talk) 19:41, 24 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks to Faithlessthewonderboy for fixing this.--SaskatchewanSenator (talk) 08:39, 26 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Both soccer and football are acceptable terms in Canada 74.198.165.67 (talk) 04:37, 16 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Not really. Both are understood in the correct context. The only cases of the use of "football" is when clubs are called "F.C." which is short for Football Club. We don't have the "Canadian Soccer Association" and the "Canadian Football Association". Besides, this discussion has been stale for three and a half years. --Walter Görlitz (talk) 05:17, 16 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
hey guys, yes, the term football and soccer are both acceptable terms in Canada. Both words football and soccer are used by the Canadian Soccer Association (note - Association used to be called Canadian Soccer Football Association... but it was shortened to Canadian Soccer Association in 1970). — Preceding unsigned comment added by Richardscott187 (talkcontribs) 03:20, 10 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
The CSA doesn't rule print or other forms of discussion. In Canada, football usually means something very different than soccer. If the CSA wants to change that culture, they're free too, but we should be very careful to not use football in the wrong context. --Walter Görlitz (talk) 03:31, 10 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

2007 Gold Cup flagged offside[edit]

The statement "flagged offside by Mexican referee Benito Archundia" is incorrect. Referees don't carry flags. The linesman raised his flag and Archundia blew the whistle. I don't remember which assistant referee was involved (A1: Luis CAMARGO (MEX) or A2: Ricardo LOUISVILLE (SUR)).--SaskatchewanSenator (talk) 06:48, 15 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

It was Ricardo Louisville--SaskatchewanSenator (talk) 21:44, 15 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Intro-tooshort[edit]

The Scotland national football team article has a good example of what to expect from the lede - a paragraph for a general overview, with details on formation and home stadium; a paragraph on results to date; and a paragraph on miscellanea. Looking at the current version, the second half would do for the third paragraph - the first three sentences should be expanded into the other two paras. - From User_talk:Thumperward#Intro-tooshort_for_Canada_men's_national_soccer_team. - Chris Cunningham (not at work) - talk 09:03, 2 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

National sport? Hockey isn't Canada's national sport, as the intro paragraph says. Lacrosse is. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 142.157.195.35 (talk) 20:29, 10 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The Maple Leafs?[edit]

I don't think "The Maple Leafs" is a commonly used nickname for the team. Any sources for this?--SaskatchewanSenator (talk) 09:16, 4 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The CONCACAF Gold Cup 2009 program lists it as a nickname for Team Canada. VWG (talk) 23:33, 6 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I should have asked if there are any reliable sources.--SaskatchewanSenator (talk) 18:20, 7 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
A publication by CONCACAF doesn't count as reliable? VWG (talk) 20:28, 7 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
No. See WP:RS. It is neither published by third party nor has "a reputation for fact-checking and accuracy."--SaskatchewanSenator (talk) 21:04, 7 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Doesn't that rule out every media organisation in the history of the world? WFCforLife (talk) 22:56, 13 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

--Hi everyone, we don't really use "Maple Leafs" as a nickname. Also, we do not use "Team Canada" (that is either Canada's hockey team or Olympic team) - we are simply "Canada" or "Canada's Team" 74.198.165.67 (talk) 04:35, 16 December 2011 (UTC)from the Canadian Soccer Association[reply]

I've seen the nickname used in a few articles, but i'm not really a fan. Le Rouges and Canucks were recently removed as well, should probably do something about those
Maple leafs doesn't really sit right with me if i'm being honest. Yes, the NHL team uses it, but i'm not entirely sure if a proper noun fits here. Nickname is far less.. rigid? Unsure of the right term here, but something really feels off to me.
(Yes I'm aware this discussion is over a decade old. Hoping someone going though the talk page replies to me.) PikaBoop (talk) 06:21, 14 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Flags in the infobox[edit]

We should avoid using flags in infoboxes according to MOS:FLAG. The five Canadian flags in the infobox don't add anything to the article and are distracting.--SaskatchewanSenator (talk) 19:08, 3 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Flag icons in World Cup records[edit]

Hi. I finally understand that the flags on the template about the competitive records in the Canada men's national soccer team have been removed on this page. But what is the purpose for removing flagicon on the template of this page? If you have the answer, please leave a reply at this page, or on my talk page. Thanks. :) --108.54.86.32 (talk) 17:43, 21 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

We don't use the flags for decoration, only informational purposes. MOS:FLAG. Walter Görlitz (talk) 21:30, 21 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I know. But on the Canada men's national soccer team page, it could show information of the World Cup as where the country is hosted. If you don't believe me, observe all the templates on FIFA Confederations Cup, the CONCACAF Gold Cup, and the CONMEBOL Copa América templates and leave a response to me. --108.54.86.32 (talk) 03:35, 22 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
This is the the team page.
I am about to fix those other violations. Thanks for pointing them out. If you want to see the correct use see infobox—the box on the top right side of the page—for 2010 FIFA World Cup and look at the previous and next years.
If we want to "show" where it was hosted, link to the national association that hosted the tournament, not the nation, not simply listing the flag. Walter Görlitz (talk) 04:13, 22 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for your wisdom of making me more responsible and correcting mistakes for some other violations. Just for me to clarify: linking the national association to indicate and understand the people that national associations only hosted these tournaments. But I wonder if you would like to permit me to add flagdecos next to the link that links to the national association pages to show the details of a country and the association with it. If you object, I won't bother to ask again. Thank you. ;) --108.54.86.32 (talk) 14:17, 11 October 2014 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.69.136.28 (talk) [reply]
I'll ask you to determine yourself since I don't own the page.
What does WP:MOSFLAG say? What's the case with other major national team articles such as England men's national football team? If they are violating MOSFLAG, then we can here. Otherwise, we shouldn't. Walter Görlitz (talk) 18:31, 11 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I have read the WP:MOSFLAG page and followed the policies on the Manual of Style about flags. It seems that there are no flag problems that might have inappropriate use from the England national football team. You have told me that if they want to show where the country hosted the tournament such as the 2010 FIFA World Cup, I shall have to link the national association on the infoboxes in the country/nation name an link it as an association that hosted the tournament. Is that correct? Should I add the flagdeco next to the link in the infobox if you like to permit me to do so? Because frankly, the flagicons that are in some other infoboxes are not allowed. If you have the answer, please kindly reply to me on my talkpage. Thank you kindly. --72.69.136.28 (talk) 16:56, 12 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Then I am wrong. Feel free to liberally add flags. Walter Görlitz (talk) 17:12, 12 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

"Canada men's national soccer team"[edit]

Home Stadium[edit]

Listing BMO Field as Canada's home stadium doesn't reflect reality anymore. Any thoughts on removing it versus adding other stadiums?--SaskatchewanSenator (talk) 20:31, 17 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I agree that listing BMO as our home stadium may not be the most efficient option anymore for the same reasons you have listed. However, there are a wide amount of stadiums that we have played at that could be listed as our "home stadium". It could make the infobox messy. We have a few options:
  • 1. List all stadiums that we have played in at home recently (we will have to come up with a more specific definition of "recently")
  • 2. Do the same as in option 1 but make the home stadiums part of the infobox collapsible to make it look better
  • 3. Leave it as is
  • 4. Determine which stadium we play at the most and use that
Please feel free to add any other options. Also, @SaskatchewanSenator: thank you for starting this discussion and not just changing it without consensus as many other editors have done recently. I appreciate you taking the initiative. Jith12 (talk) 21:44, 17 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Other option: There was an announcement that BMO field was going to be their home field. We can't do anything about that, especially of Soccer Canada doesn't retract that statement. We can change the comment about that statement to reflect its fleeting status and that other fields have been used. I'm not sure we need to list the stadiums they've also played at. Walter Görlitz (talk) 05:50, 20 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
@Walter Görlitz: You have a point. There is also a stadiums section in the body of the article so it might be best to leave it as is or put a note in the infobox telling viewer to "See also:Canada men's national soccer team#Stadiums" or similar. Jith12 (talk) 15:53, 20 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
When did the CSA last say that it was their home stadium? What would you expect for a retraction?--SaskatchewanSenator (talk) 19:56, 21 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
http://bmofield.com/faqs/655/ where you see they call it the "National Soccer Stadium". I was ticked when I read about that on the CBC: http://www.cbc.ca/sports/soccer/canada-falls-to-scotland-in-u-20-soccer-friendly-1.633936 is one such example.
Retraction? I don't know, some way that they stop using the term. Walter Görlitz (talk) 04:57, 22 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
What were you ticked about? When has the CSA last called it Canada's home stadium? The CBC article is from 2007 and the BMO Field site isn't a great source.--SaskatchewanSenator (talk) 18:59, 26 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Ticked that they had decided that one field was going to be their home field, ignoring the rest of Canada. It wasn't a situation where they would play half of their home games there, the announcement was all would be played there. It's been a while, but they have played elsewhere. Not sure why the BMO Field page isn't a great source. It easily meets WP:RS. Walter Görlitz (talk) 19:21, 26 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, for a while it did seem like they were ignoring the rest of Canada. It's not a great source because it's not direct from the CSA and BMO Field is not a (sports) news organization. It's also not dated.--SaskatchewanSenator (talk) 21:17, 26 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I think the CSA did call it Canada's home stadium after 2007 (although that's the last good source we have), but I don't think they have recently. Canada's last three competitive home games were not played at BMO. Listing BMO Field as Canada's home stadium is outdated. I think it should be removed from the infobox.--SaskatchewanSenator (talk) 23:21, 17 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I put the word "Multiple" under the home stadium parameter and linked it to the stadium section of the article. I think it looks better like this so that the parameter isn't empty. Is this acceptable? Regards, Jith12 (talk) 15:41, 18 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Most national teams that don't have a single home stadium don't have the field in the infobox. Some, like the Netherlands national football team and the Russia national football team , list the stadiums in the infobox.--SaskatchewanSenator (talk) 07:32, 19 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

While Canada Soccer did list James Pantemis as playing for the Montreal Impact I can find no other reference to confirm this status. He is not listed on Montreal's roster, and his wiki article claims he last played in 2016 for FC Montreal (a USL affiliate). I am confused as to why the Canada Soccer announcement, which came out well after FC Montreal disbanded, would claim he was still affiliated with the Impact. Can anyone shed light on this? Honours section[edit]

Is it really necessary to have a "honours" section in this article? I think that it would probably make more sense to merge it with the "competitive record" section. It mostly just re-states facts from the "competitive record" section. Jith12 (talk) 22:45, 18 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, it is standard to have both sections on national teams. Competitive records section is detailed for every tournament, honours is just what they've won. Vaselineeeeeeee★★★ 23:03, 18 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Ballou Tabla[edit]

I'm going to go ahead and move Ballou Tabla to the midfield section because he is listed on the Canada Soccer website here as a winger, and that has been his position at the club level his entire career. - TrailBlzr (talk) 23:36, 13 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Active?[edit]

What is wiki standard for saying someone is active? Ricketts is still listed as active in career goal scorers, but he hasn't been called up since 2018. I would strongly argue he is no longer involved with the Canadian national team.— Preceding unsigned comment added by RKing85 (talkcontribs) 11:57, 27 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Ricketts was capped in 2020 and was named to the Gold Cup preliminary squad in June 2021 (although he didn't make the final list). Generally, the latest consensus was 1-2 years after most recent call-up See here. Basically, if we accept the preliminary squad as a 'call-up', then he would still technically be considered active until July 2023. RedPatch (talk) 17:09, 27 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, fair. I have ZERO recollection of Ricketts being called up in 2020 and I have a pretty good memory for that type of stuff....or at least I thought I did. haha. I personally wouldn't count the prelim squad in 2021 as anybody who has ever played one second of soccer in their life was included in that prelim roster. It had 60 some names on it.— Preceding unsigned comment added by RKing85 (talkcontribs) 00:31, 29 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I wouldn't either, but Wikipedia tends to use that (they did on the roster page) for the 12 months after it, so I guess we have to go with it. He played in the January 2020 friendlies against Barbados and Iceland. (On a separate note, when commenting on talk pages, make sure to add your username in the comment by adding four tildes "~"'s in a row at the end. It put your username and the timestamp. Kit issues[edit]

The kit section has a few issues. The 2020 home and away kits are both bespoke designs (using an outdated template to boot, thanks Nike) and were never worn by the men's team from what I can tell. They were however sold in men's cuts and are listed under 2020 on footballkitarchive here https://www.footballkitarchive.com/canada-kits/ but that site is run by footyheadlines and sort of melds the men and women's teams together.

Big issue is missing the current set of kits, worn in both 2021 and 2022 due to canada being on a "different development cycle" per nike. They're basically just blank nike vapor kits with csa logo, i'm unsure of how to copy them from the colours section to the history one.

Summary:

1: Women's 2020 kits are mistakenly listed for men, should be the 2019 design as that was carried over for the men.

2: 2021/22 design is missing, needs to be there as it was worn during our first wc in 36 years. PikaBoop (talk) 06:34, 14 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
