Notes[edit]

This article was created to mimic Canadian Pacific Railway Ltd., to separate the corporate article from that of the railway itself. No problems with merging, however the main CN article is getting very long (as is the CPR), so it would also make sense to leave it as is. Plasma east 22:53, 12 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Removed merge tag: lack of support. Changed to expand tag. Cwolfsheep 14:36, 9 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Merge discussion, November 2006[edit]

Another editor added a merge tag to merge Canadian National Railway into this location. Please discuss here. Slambo (Speak) 11:52, 14 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

  • Oppose for the same reasons as previously discussed. This article was split off from Canadian National Railway to hold the corporate information while that article holds the historical and operational aspects of the railroad. Slambo (Speak) 11:52, 14 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Regardless of whether we need two separate articles, if we were to merge the two, they should be merged into Canadian National Railway, not the reverse. The railway is more significant than the parent company, and most of the links point to the railway. JYolkowski // talk 00:10, 15 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • I would oppose the merge as proposed, but I'd favour a merge going the other way. Separating the corporate information from the historical and operational aspects of the railroad isn't really necessary, nor is it accepted Wikipedia format — but IMO the merge needs to be from here into the other title, since "Company" isn't part of the organization's commonly-used name. For the record, a merge notice should have been added to the top of this article as well when the process began. I'm going to switch them both to {{mergewith}}; I'm also going to post it at WP:CANADA so that hopefully we can get more input than this. Bearcat 02:08, 25 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
