Clean up[edit]

Reads like a travel brochure, not a wiki article. CLEAN IT UP! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.247.100.100 (talk) 15:24, 12 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Imo this brochure needs more than some light spring-cleaning; The Compagnie Maritime Cannoise should be deleted or heavily adapted as afaik they no longer operate; Parc Zoologique de Frejus describes something that may be or may not be in Frejus (another commune) and should either be moved or deleted - Galimard is in Grasse (another commune) and should be moved or deleted. Some of the pictures and captions are also on the limit of being wrong.

An outbound link to the dmoz category for this town may be also worthwhile as it looks more or less maintained...
I'd start on this myself, but don't want to be accused of vandalism ;o)

I've had a go at this, to make it less of a tourist blurb. I'd welcome the help of others. Les woodland (talk) 06:30, 10 June 2008 (UTC)les woodland[reply]

German Occupation?[edit]

The section on the Second World War is pretty thin, but it says that the Germans occupied Cannes. I don't see how this can have happened, as Cannes was in Vichy France. The map here (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:France_map_Lambert-93_with_regions_and_departments-occupation.svg) shows that it was briefly occupied by the Italians, but never the Germans. Maybe somebody should correct that. 65.94.45.22 (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 01:38, 4 November 2011 (UTC).[reply]

The Germans did occupy Cannes (and the entire region) towards the end of the war (ie. from 08/Sept/1943). Just need to find some more documentation... They even dynamited the port upon departure. Elper (talk) 10:40, 1 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Ferries[edit]

Noting that the Ferries section appears to be written for Nice not Cannes. Ferries from Cannes essentially go to the Lerins Islands, with some services to St.Raphael and St.Tropez, none to Corsica afaik. Elper (talk) 10:25, 1 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Historical population[edit]

Why did Cannes' population drop so sharply from 1891 to 1896 . . . and then skyrocket from 1896 to 1901? Or did someone mistype the data ? 108.254.160.23 (talk) 05:09, 26 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Incorrect stuff and deletion of precipitation colour[edit]

Cannes, France does not have Mediterranean climate. Actually, it has a Oceanic climate. It enjoys palm trees and wet throughout the year. But uses the Southern Hemisphere seasons wet and dry. And the green colour o precipitation is unenjoyable. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 174.44.64.225 (talk) 20:11, 9 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Unnecessary "died in Cannes" section[edit]

Do we really need a section mentioning how many people died in Cannes? It seems highly unnecessary Danial Bass (talk) 00:24, 29 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
