Compact or bridge[edit]

Would this be classified as a compact or bridge digital camera? JIP | Talk 20:49, 11 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not sure what you mean by 'bridge' camera, but it isn't compact. It is much smaller than a dSLR, however. --Mechcozmo 22:00, 28 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Wikipedia has a separate article on bridge digital cameras. JIP | Talk 10:00, 2 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Nice camera, but has a problem with purple fringing in high contrast areas(black next to white). HighInBC (Need help? Ask me) 22:14, 18 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

With the new third party add-on, you can shoot in raw mode, which means you can easily correct the purple fringing by shifting individual color channels fractions of a pixel. (H) 15:00, 17 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

duplicated data[edit]

This article seems duplicated. The data on the infobox is pretty much the same as the features section... Peter 01:30, 28 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

sample photos[edit]

Neither of the two photos is particularly interesting (the 2nd doesn't even follow the rule of thirds!), with very limited colours and with a theme that isn't very memorable. Rather than just delete these (and they ought to go), do people have some others they'd to submit. How about a "normal" shot, a zoom into the same scene, and maybe a super macro? User:HighInBC/gallery Most of the pictures at the end of my gallery were taken by this camera(it says on the image pages). Take your pick. HighInBC (Need help? Ask me) 15:52, 11 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Will look thru my gallery for a better pic. You do know the rule of thirds is only a guideline right.... -- Tawker 23:13, 13 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I prefer to call it the style of thirds, it is far from a rule. HighInBC (Need help? Ask me) 23:14, 13 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
These pictures should show color swap and other things relating to the camera, instead of just some "blah" shots. 76.192.218.138 23:49, 29 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Color swap is a gimmick, something you could just as easily do in Photoshop. (H) 15:01, 17 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Third party software[edit]

For trying to improve the usefulness of the article to S3 owners and potential S3 owners by adding information about add-on software that significantly expands the features of the camera, I've been accused of being a spammer and CHDK has been accused of being "warez". I'd like to note that I'm not affiliated with the people who made CHDK or anything, I just found it while I was researching cameras to buy, and the features it added are what made me decide to go for the S3 IS over something with mechanical zoom and focus rings.

I'd like to see you back up your statements about CHDK being "warez", since all it is is software that runs when the camera starts to add extra features to the camera. I'd also like a full explanation for why you don't feel such information should be included in the article. Isn't the goal of Wikipedia to be useful and provide information for people looking for it? If you're going to call the information I added spam, then you might as well remove the entire article, since that's just spamming for Canon's camera. -74.57.109.13 21:09, 1 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • Ok, i appreciate your info. Without it i would never have known i could upgrade this already wonderful camera. No idea why (or who) these people would say that. Must not know much about digital cameras. Anyway thx! Keep up the good workMace Windu (talk) 01:29, 22 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
