There was a link between the line to Canterbury West and the line to Canterbury East, contrary to what it states in the article. However, I don't have access to the photograph that shows it or a book that confirms it. Does anyone have one? PortholePete (talk) 19:48, 30 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

No, there was never a link between the SER and LCDR lines. You might be thinking of Harbledown Junction which connected the SER line to the Elham Valley Railway, but there was still no way of accessing the LCDR line. Ritchie333 ^(talk) ^(cont) 21:27, 30 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

The course of the link line can still be seen from London-bound trains on the Faversham line (a substation building now stands over it). The line was introduced around the time of the second world war and taken out before electrification. I am not confusing it with Harbledown Junction, which is something else. It's bizarre that none of the sources I've read talk about it, although it explains why it's not on a 1945 and 1961 map (don't think I've got anything in between those dates). I've also visited the site on the ground as it's only a short walk from the station. I realise there could have been a link constructed at any time after the "big four" grouping when the lines were no longer run by competitors (see the 1920s reorganisation about Thanet) but just surprised to not know anything about it.
