Lo and behold, we have yet another example of the perils of parroting GNIS or other federal government data without consulting other sources for cross-reference. If you haven't had the opportunity to read my various warnings to this effect, let me repeat: GNIS's coverage of Alaska is largely based upon source material which is decades out-of-date in the case of many entries. In 2014 (and for many years prior), Cape Yakataga is actually located in the Yakutat borough. Consult this map if you doubt me. Subsequently, it's also somewhat misleading to call Cape Yakataga a "populated place" in the present-day sense. While people have lived there on and off over many years, the 2010 Census reported that 100 percent of the borough's population lives in the Yakutat CDP (or the former city limits of Yakutat).
