Practicing what one preaches[edit]

Schramm is an evangelist promoting entrepreneurship (per the Economist and intro quote) who has not yet practiced what he (and the Kauffman Foundation he leads) preaches. The fact that he has not started a company himself is relevant. As noted in the edit, the sourcing on this is from RS as stated in this article. (If he starts a company this will appear in the article, and be noted in the synopsis intro paragraph.) If his evangelical mission was to encourage everyone to have a TV career or land on the moon, as User:McGeddon writes, the fact that he himself has not done so would be relevant. But he is not doing this. He does, however, urge people to start their own company, and that it is OK to fail. It is worth noting in his bio that he himself has not yet started a company. Sorry, which source are you quoting? Or are you just saying that several reliable sources describe him as promoting entrepreneurship, and another source specifically says he has never set up his own company?
If commentators from reliable sources have criticised him for some perceived hypocrisy, here, then by all means document that - if it's just your own opinion that academics should only advise from personal experience, though, then this isn't enough to highlight it in an encyclopaedia biography. "Schramm promotes entrepreneurship but has never set up a company himself" is very close to the WP:SYNTHESIS example of "The UN's stated objective is to maintain international peace and security, but since its creation there have been 160 wars throughout the world". --McGeddon (talk) 13:32, 14 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I've gone ahead and cut this per WP:BLP, for now. The logic that "if he'd started a company someone would have mentioned this in the article by now, therefore he has never started a company" is flat WP:OR (by the same logic, we could claim that Schramm has never attended high school), but even if you can find a source confirming that he has never started a company in his life, it would be WP:SYN to highlight this as a perceived contrast to his academic work, unless a notable commentator has specifically called him out on this hypocrisy. --McGeddon (talk) 10:48, 18 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
