Merge[edit]

  • I'm not sure what happened here, but we've got two pages with the same title, and until I messed up the redirect page (gulp), the default page redirected here. I think this article should be under the other page's URL... I'm not sure what all this %E2%80%99 nonsense is. --DarrenBaker 02:44, 20 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah definitely merge the articles. You got my vote. Tombseye 10:53, 25 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not sure what the %E2%80etc is about, but both links go to the same page. I added a z to Carlito on the page at the first link, then clicked on the other one. Both had the added z. So I took out the z and the mergeto template.Anthopos 04:41, 15 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
It appears the apostrophe used in both articles are different. One uses a tipped apostrophe while the other doesn't, which answers the %E2%80%99 coding, likely representing the symbol. I support moving the page to the latter, as a user also doesn't typically query for this article with a tipped apostrophe. This incident is probably a simple case of naming by mistake. ╫ 25 ◀RingADing▶ 16:08, 26 January 2006 (UTC) ╫[reply]
  • If you type the words 'Carlito's Way' into the search, it goes through a redirect page to get to this one. The contents of this page should be moved to the redirect page, which I would do, but can't. The history needs to be maintained, and only an admin can do that. Any admins get what I'm saying? --DarrenBaker 04:32, 16 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Merge tag[edit]

I removed the merge tag as it appears the articles were merged and the tag was simply looping back into the same article. There was no discussion at the redirect page. SilkTork 20:48, 1 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Nothing has changed... If you type Carlito's Way into the search box, you get redirected. I'm going to try and get someone on this ASAP. --DarrenBaker 20:54, 1 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the debate was move. —Nightstallion (?) 08:10, 6 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Requested move[edit]

Funky quote → Normal quote – Confusingly, there are two articles on Carlito's Way, but the former article title uses a special type of apostrophe, and if you type Carlito's Way in the search box, you go here, and are redirected immediately here. The former 'special apostrophe' article should be moved to the latter 'normal apostrophe' article, and the 'special apostrophe' article deleted. mvd text from WP:RM by DarrenBaker here

  • Support moving to more common apostrophe (and smack user NoHat with a cold trout). 24.17.48.241 08:05, 2 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support... Finally! --DarrenBaker 15:11, 2 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support and tell people to use a real apostrophe instead of ’. - Bobet 00:02, 5 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Trivia addition[edit]

I am relatively new to wikipedia, and do not really want to add things myself, as I am afraid I will mess them up. The Kleifeld character is the inspiration for the lawyer character in Grand Theft Auto Vice City.

There is an area reserved just for new would-be editors to muck around, try the Wikipedia:Sandbox. Also, remember you can use the "show preview" button to see how your changes would effect an article before it really changes anything, and it is invaluable. You are encourged to be bold!!---Jackel 14:40, 12 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Official soundtrack addition[edit]

I added the official Soundtrack of the movie with the cover, some info and a list of the tracks in it. GDuwen —Preceding comment was added at 01:46, 4 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

This page is really very sloppy.Someone should tag it —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.177.170.61 (talk) 23:26, 3 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Carlito's Way.jpg[edit]

Image:Carlito's Way.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. BetacommandBot (talk) 04:13, 12 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Cleanup[edit]

I've started cleaning up some areas of this article and included other parts. The Trivia section has been removed and is below. These lines should remain removed unless someone has appropriate citations and can put it back into the article in prose. -- Nreive (talk) 16:35, 26 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

  • The character Benny Blanco is parodied in the MMORPG World of Warcraft with the Defias thug "Benny Blanco" in Westfall.
  • The Kleinfeld character has often been described as the inspiration for the character Ken Rosenberg of Grand Theft Auto: Vice City and San Andreas fame. Both are Jewish, have the same taste in clothing and are rendered increasingly paranoid and incoherent by their cocaine addiction. They also appear very similar physically.
  • The song by Slipknot titled (Sic) has a clip of Pacino (Carlito) shouting "Here comes the pain!" from around 24 min, 40 sec into the movie.
  • In the cartoon named The Boondocks, episode Home Alone, Huey and his brother are shooting each other with bb guns. Huey yells Al's line from Carlito's Way, "I'm loading up", this is a famous line from the bar scene.
  • The scene were Carlito is in the bathroom yelling "Okay I'm reloaded!" is mimicked in the song "Brooklyn's Finest" off Jay-Z's debut album Reasonable Doubt.
  • The monologue at the beginning is taken up in the song "Intro/A Million And One Questions/Rhyme No More" off Jay-Z's sophomore album In My Lifetime, Vol.1.

Merger proposal[edit]

Carlito's Way: Rise to Power is a stub article, and has been for some time. This should be merged with the main article where it should have started out from. If it expands sufficiently then it can be split in the future. Nreive (talk) 08:20, 8 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

No objections so it's been done. Nreive (talk) 09:54, 15 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I've reverted your merge for the time being as I don't really see the need for that action at this point. Though it is still technically a stub, there is enough unique content to easily support a separate page. -- Grandpafootsoldier (talk) 21:56, 15 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Okay, but I'd wish you'd voiced your opinions before the merge. Kind of defeats the purpose having a discussion after the event has taken place. I'll leave it as it is for now. But let's face facts, it's been a stub since 27 September 2005, do you really think it'll improve? Let's give it a dealine to get up to start class, eh? Nreive (talk) 07:59, 16 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Carlito's Way is a classic movie while Rise to Power is a bucket of horse manure. Check Rotten Tomatoes. Why merge a piece of crud with a classic movie? How about we merge Rambo: First Blood with Rambo 8. I agree that this should be an independent article without 5th rate sequels sharing the limelight.Meishern (talk) 11:29, 26 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Weird references[edit]

I keep seeing reference to Hot Dog Magazine. (Hot Dog magazine, August 2000, P. 30.) What is it? Had a circulation of 1000 copies per month and went out of business 4 years ago and its the definitive source for some bold statements about this movie. Isn't this the same as a blog basically, and shouldn't be used as a reference? Cheers! Meishern (talk) 11:34, 26 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I'm playing Humphrey Bogart: an allusion to Casablanca[edit]

At some point in the movie Pacino says something like "I'm playing Humphrey Bogart". Bogart plays a nightclub owner in Casablanca, who is not interested in anything going between the Nazis and the French, just as Carlito does not want to have anything to do in the gangsters looking to work with him. And as Carlito ends with a planned train ride, Casablanca ends at the airport. I gues there must some essay detailing the similarities must exist that can be used to flesh out the Casablanca relation.MackyBeth (talk) 16:34, 30 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]
