Composition Date[edit]

1883 seems unlikely as a composition date - maybe it's the year the orchestral version was written and published, but not the year the fantasy was composed. Choudens published the violin/piano version of the work in or by 1882, and this was announced as received by Hofmeisters Monatsbericht late that year - see link.
