Joke[edit]

Someone played a joke on this article. The preceding unsigned comment was added by 216.20.29.77 (talk • contribs) 2005-12-07 08:52:44 (UTC)

It has been removed; sorry I didn't notice that sooner. HorsePunchKid 2005-12-07 21:09:36Z

Redirect[edit]

This article had been a redirect to Cars (film). After seeing the list of articles that link to it and viewing a sampling of them, I decided it would be more appropriate to redirect it to Automobile, though I debated about redirecting it to Car (disambiguation) instead. Feel free to discuss if you do not concur. --Mwalimu59 00:11, 20 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I could see "car" being directed to "automobile," but perhaps not "cars," as it is the proper name of a famous movie. I'd say it should direct to the Disney movie, if not the disambiguation page; at the very least "automobile" should have a link to the Disney movie. Esprix (talk) 15:35, 22 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I went ahead and made this change - "cars" now redirects to "Cars (film)" with a redirect note to see "car (disambiguation)" (which includes links to both "automobile" and "Cars (film)"). --Esprix (talk) 05:29, 25 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
It's common practice to redirect plural forms to the singular. Seems to me despite their being a well-known film named Cars, the plural of car still means car much more often and should simply be redirected to automobile, as car is. I redirected it back to this, I'll start a new section on Talk:Automobile for more input. LonelyMarble (talk) 05:27, 3 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
