Errors in the Guardian article[edit]

1. I never said "I don't trust company after NSA revelations" - I haven't trusted Microsoft for a lot longer than that.

2. I never said: "adding that he only uses open source software where he can examine the underlying code" - I use free (GPL) software, because other people whose motivations I respect, can both write and examine the code

3. I never said I "authored Microsoft's privacy policy" between 2002 and 2011 for 40 countries

It would be correct to say

Guardian corrected their article, reference now doesn't support Biog[edit]

An earlier version gave the impression that Bowden's distrust of Microsoft's technology did not begin until after the NSA revelations. In addition we also suggested that he was in charge of the company's privacy policy and that he now trusts open source software where he can examine the underlying code himself. All three errors have been corrected.

All in all, perhaps best this Wikipedia page on me deleted, please, since started on viral sly falsities.

The article has been corrected[edit]

The article text has now been corrected so that the errors pointed out above are gone, and the text is now supported by the cited sources. I think this subject is probably notable, although only marginally based on the current content of the article (I haven't searched for additional coverage). Thank you to Mr. Bowden for pointing out the errors, and to User:Mdann52 for correcting the article. I had started the article from the little sources I had managed to find; sorry about the errors on "Europe, the Middle-East and Africa", I appear to have misunderstood the relationships between titles, functions and occupations within Microsoft. ...says he had "no idea" about [PRISM] during his time at Microsoft[edit]

What I actually have said is* :

[He has criticized PRISM,] and says he was not aware of the PRISM program by name when he was at Microsoft (which was not surprising since he held no security clearance), but he deduced the existence of PRISM from open sources, and has been warning about the risk of FISA section 702 (aka 50 USC § 1881a) since 2011.

Birth year[edit]

I'm aware that we shouldn't use primary sources, but they indicate that his birth (as Caspar P S Bowden) was registered in the Pancras district of London in the third quarter of 1961 - here (subscription required).
