An encyclopedia article, not a prospectus

There has been a bit of an edit war relating to the inclusion or otherwise of Mark Thomas, previous Director of Music. This raises a general question of policy, which I would sum up by insisting that wikipeda is an encyclopedia, not a collection of prospectusus. The purpose of a prospectus, or equivalently an institutional website, is to present the institution as it is now, in order to inform and attract potential uses of its services. An encyclopedia article should be timeless, as concerned with the past as with the present. It is worth having and maintaining such an article if the institution has at any stage of its existence been important, and it remains even if the institution itself ceases to exist.
So the staff of an institution fall into two categories: the more important ones, where as far as is known all holders of an office should be listed, and on the other hand those where the names of office holders are not important enough to give at all.
In this case the bishops are listed at Roman Catholic Diocese of Charleston#List of Bishops, and it would perhaps be enough to make that cross-reference. The rectors used to be listed in this article, but the list was wrongly, in my view, removed. On the other hand the names of the more junior clergy are probably not sufficiently notable for inclusion.
The case of Mark Thomas is rather ironic; there used to be a wikipedia article about him at Mark Thomas (musician). The was deleted as being a infringement of copyright material on this page, where no mention of Mark Thomas is now made. Meanwhile because he had moved on, he was deleted from this article. So he has vanished from history. The website is advertising for now. The encyclopedia is a record for ever. Mark Thomas and all other holders of that office should be listed (and if User:Hike888 has access to non-copyright information about him, he/she could even reinstate the Mark Thomas article!).
