Two different groups by this name[edit]

There was an American group called "Celtic Thunder" in the 1980s and 1990s. They put out a few albums of Irish and Irish-American music. See their Allmusic entry. Their singing is the audio on this YouTube video.

My guess is that there's no connection between the two groups. The current one just happened to pick a name that had been used before. Ideally, we'd nail that down. At a minimum, we should mention the other group in this article. I was very confused to read that the group was formed in 2007 when I knew that I'd heard Celtic Thunder years before that. The "other" Celtic Thunder was a traditional flavored Irish/Irish-American band based in the Baltimore/Washington DC area. They have been around since 1977. Their lineup and discography as of the late-90s, can be found at http://www.ceolas.org/artists/Celtic_Thunder.html I know two of those people, and both are now living in New York. If you go to Celtic Thunder's website they do acknowledge the existence of the other band, and this wasn't Sharon Browne's first name choice but it does fit the show a bit better I think than what she had wanted to call them. Their music stylings are different than the orginal band so there is no mistaking them in that way. annastacia66 (talk) 27 December 2009 —Preceding undated comment added 13:51, 27 December 2009 (UTC).[reply]

Split Article[edit]

So now that we've established that this name was used by two different groups, how about splitting the article? As it stands now, we have one article about two different groups that only have a name in common.

The article was split off and the new article can be found at Celtic Thunder (United States). ~ GB fan 13:05, 17 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Ages[edit]

Ages of the individual members doesn't belong here unless it includes the exact date that the age was calculated. Birth year is sufficient, and much more encyclopedic, if an age reference is needed. Specific ages need constant updating, and will frequently correct. I am deleting the age information — Preceding unsigned comment added by 4.154.252.150 (talk) 03:27, 8 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
