Merge[edit]

I oppose the merge of (Champagne) Lanson, a champagne house, into Lanson International, which seems to be a stock-traded holding company owning several champagne houses. Individual champgne houses registered with CIVC fulfill notability criteria on their own, are likely to be more looked-up articles than their corporate owners, and would focus on other content, e.g. viticulture, oenology, house style and history. • Also oppose per Tomas e arguments. Can't see any good reason why an article on a 1760 founded Champagne house be merged into severely less significant article about the current holding company. MURGH disc. 11:42, 19 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • Sigh I apologize. I didn't see this old conversion on the talk page until after I WP:BOLDly did the merge. These 3 articles have been stubs for years with little prospects for expansion. This merge kills 3 stubs and creates an article of more context and significance to the reader. However, if either one of you want to do the revert step of WP:BRD, I certainly won't object and leave this be. AgneCheese/Wine 01:54, 17 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
  • Shrug No biggie ;). But I'd argue that the way to merge would be to have the article named Lanson (Champagne Lanson) and fold Lanson International (no more and morphed) and Besserat underneath. deMURGH talk 07:56, 17 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Attribution note[edit]

Some of the content from the Lanson and Besserat de Bellefon section comes from the merged stubs Lanson and Besserat de Bellefon. AgneCheese/Wine 01:56, 17 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
