Kushan and Turks[edit]

It is wrong to say that Kushans were Turks. At the best, it can be said that they were the Central Asian Tribes. Some related articles give reference to such a fact. Secondly, the major source on Kushan before they reached India is mainly Chinese Sources. It was only later that when they adopted Buddhism that we learn about them from Indian sources. Further, Gandhara Art which flourished during the period of Kanishka, carry the imprint of Grecian art forms. Therefore, this issue is yet not settled among the historians that what actually was the race or origin of Kushans. From the archaeological sources we come to know only this much, that they had operated in Chinese territory and later they moved in to territory of Bazantine empire. There are proofs that they reached India and ruled over the territories in the north India. They were influenced by Buddhism. Thus, I have deleted the 'Turk' reference to them. --Sumir 07:59, 14 September 2009 (UTC)Sumir —Preceding unsigned comment added by Sumir Sharma (talkcontribs)
