Article[edit]

The article states, "constructed in 800 c.", which I take to mean it was constructed in the 8th century. But later in the article and reference 3 say it was built in the 9th century. Is there perhaps some confusion arising from the year 8xx being in the 9th century? Incidentally, the Amusing Planet website, http://www.amusingplanet.com/2012/10/chand-baori-step-well-in-rajasthan-india.html says that it was “Built during the 8th and 9th century by King Chanda of Nikumbha Dynasty, ...” Dawright12 (talk) 10:22, 26 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Most sources given are inappropriate[edit]

Most of the sources attached to this article are inappropriate to use on Wikipedia. According to Wikipedia:Identifying reliable sources, self-published material is not acceptable, including using Wikipedia itself as a source. Blogs are problematic, especially a blog that is crowd-sourced like Atlas Obscura by its "Field Agents". And using the caption of a photograph on found Flickr as a source leaves me speechless.

Steps to Water: the Ancient Stepwells of India by Morna Livingston and Milo beach, published by Princeton Architectural Press looks like an excellent source. Authors, you need to find more good reliable resources like this one. Reading through the discussions here at the Wikipedia:Reliable sources/Noticeboard will help you get a good feel for acceptable sources. Be sure to keep an open mind as there could be good sources written in languages other English.

In addition to the link to the India Portal, I think that this article should be also be linked to: Portal:Architecture, Portal:Archaeology, Portal:Infrastructure (includes water management), Wikipedia:WikiProject Architecture, and Wikipedia:WikiProject Archaeology. Size?[edit]

"It extends approximately 30 m (100 ft) into the ground, making it one of the deepest and largest stepwells in India." How about the horizontal dimensions: Length and width of the pool? Length and width of the inner face of the top gallery? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.231.66.125 (talk) 18:39, 24 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
