Chuck?[edit]

I was wondering if someone could edit the main page and add Chuck, As Virgin1 have announced they have the rights to it, See http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/programming/a81577/virgin-1-acquires-spy-comedy-chuck.html --KeiranWilliams 19:06, 12 Decemmber 2007 (UTC)

Done, was just coming on to do it anyway :) --AJFurnell (talk) 19:34, 12 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Virgin Central.....V1's Sister Channel?[edit]

I was doing a little edit on the VC page and started wondering, is Virgin Central, V1's sister channel? I thought about putting on as its sister channel but don't as i feel like I'm forgetting something. Anyone know for sure? --AJFurnell 13:54, 13 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Its not really a sister channel, its just an on-demand channel that was made for for people who have Virgin TV after they knew they were losing Sky 1 & Sky 2. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 172.141.116.91 (talk) 14:06, 9 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

V1s First Day Lineup??[edit]

Maybe this should be added? http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=665382 —Preceding unsigned comment added by 90.194.228.44 (talk) 17:39, 19 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I think it should too Philip1992 19:06, 19 September 2007 (UTC)Philip1992[reply]

Third paragraph = speculation?[edit]

The third paragraph of this article reads "On Freeveiw (sic) Virgin 1 will use space currently used by ABC1 between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m., and between 6 p.m. and 6 a.m. Virgin 1 will broadcast on space currently used by Ftn."

This appears to be speculative (no citation is given), and is also unlikely, given that ABC1 currently broadcasts between 0600-1800 on Multiplex A (except Wales), and Ftn broadcasts between 1800-0600 on Multiplex D. As far as I am aware, a LCN cannot span two different multiplexes on the UK digital terrestrial network. Unless new information has come to light of which I'm unaware, it is unclear exactly how the channels will be arranged after the demise of ABC1, UKTV Bright Ideas and Ftn, and the reduction of UKTV History's hours on digital terrestrial. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Mithy73 (talkcontribs) 18:12, 24 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • Changed it back - it was wrong, must of been someone just putting two and two together and getting five --AJFurnell 20:47, 24 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
    • "must of been someone" - must have! If you can't use English try editing one of the other language Wikipedias. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 134.36.19.139 (talk) 08:46, 28 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
      • Virgin 1 will be 24 hours on freeview, the epg on my freeview box has virgin 1 programmes 24 hours. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.152.50.17 (talk) 14:51, 28 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Same with mineOsirisV 11:13, 29 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Is the Freeview EPG a valid source. Press releases and statements on the VirginMedia website say it is 6pm to 6am on Freeview Prking68 15:12, 28 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The EPG is wrong. I heard from loads of sites its going to be 12 hours on freeview and sky and VM 24 hours Philip1992 11:43, 29 September 2007 (UTC)Philip1992[reply]

On one of the forums someone has found confirmation that for now at least Virgin 1 is only 6pm-6am http://www.freeview.co.uk/docs/Channel%20Guide.pdf Brollachan 18:22, 1 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Timings[edit]

should we add the timings for the shows? week days seem pretty much the same as each other (as in not having a different show on Wednesday at 10 as Ftn did.)OsirisV 11:13, 29 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I already have Star Trek: DS9 listed as 15:00 & 20:00 hrs.OsirisV 11:13, 29 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Launch Night[edit]

I thought we could try something along the lines of how what five has, if it doesn’t work out then we can always remove it but i think we should try it for a couple of days and see what the finished product looks like....once all the ratings info is released. --AJFurnell 17:31, 1 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Use of ABC1 space?[edit]

There is no source for this. This would be extremely unlikely as the ABC1 channel was carried on a different multiplex and it is not possible for a channel to span more than one multiplex. I don't know whether to remove this remark or simply to flag it as un-verifiable or original research. Prking68 13:44, 8 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I have been looking at that for the last few days and wondering if it should be removed as like you said they are on different multiplexes. The only way they could use the space is if Dave and UKTV History had a little move around. so for now we'll leave off until we know more. --AJFurnell 14:15, 8 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Why has the "V Funny Sunday" page being deleted?[edit]

Why on Earth has the V Funny Sunday page being deleted?? It was not breaking any Wikipedia rules, just look at the page for NBC's Must See TV - that was about a programming block and it is still here!

Tomm3 14:39, 12 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

To quote the delete log:

20:32, October 10, 2007 The JPS deleted "V Funny Sunday" ‎ (not notable for its own article - see Virgin 1 instead)

I have to say I agree with that. Must See TV is far more notable than V Funny Sunday. My opinion aside, this talk page isn't the best place to discuss this. See WP:WMD#What you can do about it. Adam McMaster 16:40, 12 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

sattalite transmission[edit]

Is it encrypted (and thus only availible to users of sky boxes) or unencrypted (and thus availible to owners of any digital satalite boxes)? Plugwash 19:29, 22 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

RED BOX - OUCH[edit]

Someone please change the info box at the bottom to a different colours or else we're all going to suffer! Plus it looks extremely tacky. Piyush90 18:39, 24 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

BSkyB dispute[edit]

Is this section really needed? TubularWorld (talk) 19:26, 6 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I have been wondering that myself for awhile now, I would not have any objections to it being reomved. --AJFurnell (talk) 19:34, 6 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
No, from what I can see, the information in that section belongs in the Virgin Media article. The best thing to do would be to merge anything not included there from here and then delete the section here. --tgheretford (talk) 20:51, 6 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I agree, it seems sensible to remove that section from the Virgin 1 article. Xtraterrestrial (talk) 13:54, 7 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Right I've removed it from the article, i was going to merge bits of it to the main VM article, however it appears that it was just a cut down copy from there. --AJFurnell (talk) 16:45, 15 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Change to Virgin1[edit]

The page and text has recently been changed from "Virgin 1" to "Virgin1" as this formatting has now been adopted on all new official promo for the channel.

  • The electronic programme guides on Freeview, Sky and Virgin Media all have the channel listed as "Virgin1"
  • Official new pages for the forthcoming programming use "Virgin1": [1] [2] [3]
  • All on-air presentation for the channel uses "Virgin1"
  • All official promo on social networking and video sharing websites uses "Virgin1"

There are obviously many old references to "Virgin 1" on the Internet but no doubt these will eventually be updated as "Virgin1" becomes more common.

If you have any thoughts, positive or negative, on this change to the page please feel free to add them here. Digipedia (talk) 09:38, 22 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Aside from the Virgin 1 to Virgin1 and the new far too large and distracting onscreen logo, ive not seen any other changes, with the possible exception of a new back shortly card. 83.104.138.141 (talk) 19:07, 10 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Thankfully theyve shrunk the onscreen logo by about 25% after the first day, still not seen any evidence of a new 'feel' though.

After closure...[edit]

Would it be best to move the page back to Virgin1 after the channel ceases broadcasting, considering it will have only been known as Channel One for a matter of months? U-Mos (talk) 21:12, 20 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

No, that was the name of it when closed, that's the name it should remain at. --Cameron Scott (talk) 08:14, 21 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Is that policy? I've never been involved with TV station articles before, but it seems logical that WP:COMMONNAME would apply when there is no "current" name, as will be when the channel closes. U-Mos (talk) 09:31, 21 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Proposal to block IP address users from editing the page till it closes.[edit]

Twice now people have added a closure date to the main info box of the article that I have had to revert as the channel has not closed yet.

Is there a way we can black ip address users from editing this page till the channel closes as it will be a lot less hassle for all of us to having to revert the edits all the time. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ruth-2013 (talkcontribs) 17:26, 8 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
