I started this article a bit clumsily, and in particular I think the list of Looff carousels needs to be expanded, checked, and citations added. There are doubtless more Looff carousels, and the ones that are still in use almost certainly have their own websites and fan sites. Although the information in the list is important to the article as a survey of Looff's work, I am not sure that a list is the proper format for its presentation. I would appreciate help. —Preceding unsigned comment added by JD Lisa (talkcontribs) 04:06, 16 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I think a list of Looff carousels would work best in a table format, so I'll try that and see how it looks. I'll hop on references and external links, too. --Oddharmonic 16:39, 28 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

San Francisco?[edit]

This article states that Charles operated an amusement park or carousel in San Francisco. My research for the Playland (San Francisco) article shows that there was in fact a Looff carousel at Playland (which was built in 1906 and then sent to Seattle, etc.), but the one who finally installed it at Playland was Charles' son, Arthur Looff, who went into partnership with John Friedle at the beginning of the that park's life. Do you have the source for your info, or were you just saying that the carousel was Looff's? We might make that clearer. Also, I need to look into what happened to the carousel from the Pan Pacific Exposition, wonder where that one ended up? --Tinned Elk 23:01, 18 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Tinned Elk, I assume you must mean the Zeum Carousel, now located at Fourth and Howard in San Francisco, which was built by Looff in 1906 for San Francisco, but went to Luna Park in Seattle instead in 1907, then to Playland in 1913. My information comes from the website of its current owners, http://www.zeum.org/visitor/zeumCarousel.html . I never meant to imply that Looff ran Playland, only that he built the carousel that ended up there in 1913. JD Lisa (talk) 23:36, 11 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
