Quote Removal per BLP[edit]

To head off some questions, the following policies apply to the recent attempts to add information sourced to an opinion blog:

Biographies of Living Persons - Information here must be very accurate and very well-sourced, especially when potentially damaging to the subject.
Reliable Sources - Blog postings are not reliable sources under most circumstances, and certainly not in this one.
Original Research - The YouTube video was an entire speech. Picking out one quote to reference is original research, even if the video can be considered a reliable source, which is not necessarily established.
Undue Weight - There is currently no media coverage to give the claims against Mr. Sherrod enough weight to place them in his bio.
Notability - Related to the above, there is not enough coverage to give this any space in the article at all.

Now that CNN, on Anderson Cooper's show, reported on (and played the video of) Charles Sherrod's comments about white voters and Uncle Toms, I would expect that all of the above would no longer apply. CNN is a reliable source (as was the original one, the University of Virginia Law School). The claim there is no current media coverage is no longer operable, as the story has been reported in the Washington Examiner and on CNN. All of the issues that needed to be addressed in your opinion have been addressed.

Policies regarding undue weight and notability would still be relevant. So far that's only one mention in mainstream media, and apparently specifically mentioned that the quote is circulating in "some conservative blogs." That's not a lot to go on at this point. Fact checking[edit]

A lot of the content in this article was added on 6 March this year, by an editor whose only contributions to Wikipedia are the 17 edits they made on that date to this single article. See Special:Contributions/BigolEdawg. Their text was extremely poor quality - reaching a nadir with two references to "Stockily Carmichael" - and they are obviously not a native English speaker. Given that, someone with good knowledge of the subject really needs to scrutinise this article carefully to check that it is accurate. Dahite (talk) 20:38, 24 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
