"I'm a great grandson of Chauncey Morehouse.. Although i never knew him, i sometimes listen to my parent's talk about him bieng a real fine gentelman. Stories of how he lost his leg below the knee due to blood circulation problems, which is most likely the reason he retired from playing in orchastras. Also to raise his family, wife, My grandfather and his siblings. My mom used to tell me stories of how he would take off his leg when she was just a little girl and she thought it was the coolest thing she had ever seen. My grandfather has shown me many recordings of him with him playing his drums, and also playing an instrument he put together himself. i forgot what it was called but the song is called, "Papa Chauncey" it's a great song and makes me realize how nice a family that had back in the day.I would have loved to meet Chauncey because of how much an influence music is to me, but sadly he didn't live long enough to even see me born.. I am so increaibly pleased to have jazz legioned in my family name.. to have played with the Dorsey Brothers and other increadible people like that. it's a great inspiration to me i will be glad to carry with me the rest of my life."
