Change title to chest voice[edit]
I would like to suggest that this article be re-entitled chest voice for several reasons. First, the term "chest register" is not recognized as one of the four major vocal registers in speech pathology. Second, the term "chest register" is controversial among vocal pedagogists as many voice professionals argue that "chest voice" involves vocal resonation and not vocal registration. The reason for this is entirely physiological. Registration deals with laryngeal function which the use of "chest voice" is not related to at all. Chest voice is a function of sympathetic resonance, for there is no direct physical contact between the chest cavities and the vocal cords. I understand that there are those who do use the term chest register, but it is not widely accepted or embraced. Chest voice is much more common and not so controvercial. This change would also be in keeping with the main pages on vocal registration and vocal resonation.Nrswanson (talk) 02:11, 29 December 2007 (UTC)
