Name[edit]

I'm a little perplexed about why anyone would confuse the University of Chicago with Chicago State.68.72.106.17 02:54, 13 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Dickens Center[edit]

No problem. That makes sense; but I would like it to link directly from the article: "NCAA Division I independents (college basketball)"----is that possible? Thanks. Rossp 22:03, 24 April 2006 (UTC)rossp[reply]

Library[edit]

I thought the blurb in this month's Wired was pretty impressive, so I added most of the info from the article, plus some from the University's web site.Jjacobsmeyer 17:45, 16 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:ChicagoStU.jpg[edit]

Image:ChicagoStU.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

It looks like Steven Whitehurst, "Award Winning Author" on this list, has inserted a plug for himself, since the source is his webpage and he doesn't seem to have won any notable awards. Academic60628 (talk) 06:06, 23 January 2014 (UTC)academic60628[reply]

Notable Alumni[edit]

Kanye West is not an alumni, for he only attended the university, never graduated from. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.215.2.162 (talk) 05:08, 26 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Once again, Stop posting Kanye West in the "Notable Alumni" Section. Alumni means you're a graduate of the institution, which he is not. So he does not belong in that section. Not even with a 'dropped out' asteriks. Only give credit where credit is due. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.206.2.253 (talk) 00:10, 7 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I believe that you are wrong and Mr. West does belong in the Chicago State Notable Alumni Section.

The definition of Alumni is according to the dictionary is...

1. a graduate or former student of a specific school, college, or university.

2. a former associate, employee, member, or the like: He invited all the alumni of the library staff to the party.

Mr. West does meet this criteria and should be included. I will not change this at this time but I hope someone else will do this.I am still a Wiki novice. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Chico 9 (talkcontribs) 10:04, 21 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

problem solved, created a section for "former students" which is much nicer sounding than dropout. I checked the other alumni and didn't find any other than are verifiable non-graduated alumni but i only checked them within wiki. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Smallhalo (talkcontribs) 15:22, 11 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Put Kanye West back in as a former student (my source is his Wikipedia page). Academic60628 (talk) 06:18, 23 January 2014 (UTC)academic60628[reply]
