Current squad[edit]

This section should list the squad (typically 18-25 men) called up for a match, not the starting 11. I cannot believe that only 11 people, with no goalkeeper, were called up to train togther and make themselves available for the recent match against Ukraine. This needs to be corrected. Kevin McE (talk) 09:28, 20 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The user added the partial list that has been made available that only includes the foreign based players that were called up by Bielsa. The rest of the squad that is made up of local league players will be added to the list after the round of games this weekend. Selecciones de la Vida (talk) 10:46, 21 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
For a match on 7 August? That was two weeks ago. Kevin McE (talk) 18:52, 20 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
The partial list of foreign based players was released around August 19 & it's for the upcoming friendly with Ukraine on September 7th. Selecciones de la Vida (talk) 10:46, 21 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Not done: Well, first of all this you even read what the Recent call-ups section says? In case you didn't see it here it is: "The following players have been called up in 2010" that means all of the players that were called up during 2010 appear in the section, not just that ones that you want, also removing the players that played in 2010 is against the consensus reached at WT:FOOTY, lastly this same edit is the reason as to why the article is currently protected. Regards --Bocafan76 (talk) 09:14, 21 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I see nothing in that thread that amounts to a strong consensus, but there is a tacit consensus across such articles that the Recent Call-ups list is based on going back either 6 or 12 months. Having it based on a calendar year does not seem a good idea: will it be blanked on 1st Jan, or will it continue growing indefinitely? Kevin McE (talk) 12:07, 21 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Well that's what I tried to say when I meant consensus, plus most of the main national team articles have it. As far as the other part, I will be changing the "2010" part to "the last 12 months" just like it appears in other articles, if not as you stated the section would have to be blanked in a couple of weeks from now. Regards --Bocafan76 (talk) 15:43, 21 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Misuse of talk page[edit]

I see no reason why squad lists are being updated on this talk page. It is not what talk pages are for, and not what this discusion was about. I propose reverting the opening of this thread to the proposal originally made in December, and "hatting" the table to reduce its visibility to discourage such abuse of a talk page, and will do so in 24 hours unless strong reason to the contrary is presented here. Results under manager[edit]

The collapsible box of results under the current manager is not replicated in any other NFT article. Please provide valid reason for it here. Equally, on what basis is the reader meant to guess the colour coding on the recently re-formatted list of results? Kevin McE (talk) 20:20, 27 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The color key has been added to the latest result section, also the "Results under manager" have being hidden so that a proper consensus could be reached about it. I personally believed that it doesn't make sense to add them, since it is almost like saying that the results of all the managers before didn't matter. I also think that those results are better fitted for the managers article than for the national team article--Bocafan76 (talk) 16:35, 31 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
No argument presented for restoring results under current manager, so removed. Kevin McE (talk) 08:19, 22 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

uniform[edit]

Chile Peru Rivalry[edit]

I never hear of Peru being rival of Chile, this is a peruvian invention, chile only play "the classic of the pacific" with them and this is not a true rivalry like the match between argentina and uruguay/brazil for example, peruvian put emphasis on the war of the pacific, which chilean don't, in chile is another match like against colombia or paraguay, — Preceding unsigned comment added by 200.112.63.167 (talk) 06:17, 18 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I agree with the above statement. I know there's an WK article on this "rivalry" but the contents of that article is dubious at best. In fact that WK article only mentions historical links between Chilean and Peruvian football instead of elements that contribute to a so-called rivalry. Like I said before, very dubious. I've decided to delete this section for the Chilean National Team as all Chilean Football historian sites never mention Peru as a rival but rather mention Argentina and Uruguay as rivals. I hope an editor can expand on the rivalries but to have Peru listed as rival based on a dubious article is pushing the limits.

The chilean-peruvian rivalry is a Peruvian perspective and not chilean. The corresponding wiki page is highly debated and it's been nominated for deletion many times. It's not wise to quote from that page.

Peru and Bolivia Rivalry???[edit]

Never hear of a Bolivian rivalry at all,(Im Chilean) on the other side, Peru is an important match, but not our classic......I suggest delete those entries....

Chile Rivalries[edit]

The important matches of Chile are 2: Argentina and Peru, Uruguay is not an important match at all for us chileans....but none of them are our classic, in fact, Chile don´t have a "classic" in South America, please stop editing this article. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 186.105.107.228 (talk) 21:12, 28 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

    • I agree that Uruguay should not be in the list however peru should also not be in the list. The chile peru thing is a Peruvian perspective and not chilean. Matches against peru are NOT important for Chileans. Matches against Argentina are very important for Chileans in club and international level. Please do your research thoroughly and avoid articles that link to wars and other disputes as this touches the Peruvian perspective. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 211.27.65.136 (talk) 05:27, 3 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Chilean Classic[edit]

First of all, I'm Chilean, so don't ignore me or delete this, CHILE DON´T have a "rival" or "classic" in southamerica, peru isn´t, argentina neither, but are 2 important matches for us, but i repeat, none of them are our classic....stop puting peru on it... — Preceding unsigned comment added by 200.27.57.58 (talk) 21:03, 24 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

STOP[edit]

STOP pòsting peruvians as our rivals, THEY ARE NOT, IM CHILEAN and the peruvians are not our classic, stop posting false bullshit in this false article with references of a UK paper. i'm sick of this.....

Suggestion: add wealth and population adjusted Elo rating below FIFA and Elo rating[edit]

Records section[edit]

Hey @ImSnot:

You reverted a change without explanation therefore I thought I'd bring up the topic here to get your thoughts as to why.

1) Players in bold are still active, at least at club level.

2) Players in bold are still active with Chile.

The reason that I amended version 1 to 2 is that players such as Humberto Suazo have been inactive from the Chilean national team for eight years therefore shouldn't be considered relevant to the team anymore. This is also true for Gonzalo Jara as he retired internationally therefore will not gain another cap for Chile. Why do you feel that having players active at club level is relevant to the national team?

Thanks,
