Minor edits[edit]

For this article I fixed reference / citation #2 by adding the same reference used over at Metamaterial for this material.) Also, I added relevant categories and wiki project templates. Steve Quinn (formerly Ti-30X) (talk) 20:10, 24 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Referenced text is wrong with regards to handedness[edit]

The reference cited http://books.google.com/books?id=OqRi4s_EskoC&pg=PA6#v=onepage&q=&f=false
is in fact wrong with regards to wave propagation and handedness. Although the article is correct.

Here is a screen shot of the relevant page in the quoted book.
http://i575.photobucket.com/albums/ss192/dave2346/Handedness%20Dont%20Delete/MetamaterialsandPlasmonics14-1.jpg

The statement is simply false refer to Talk:Polarizer/Lengthy_quotes#Federal Standard 1037C

Here is the image referred to in the text http://i575.photobucket.com/albums/ss192/dave2346/Handedness%20Dont%20Delete/MetamaterialsandPlasmonics15.jpg

The caption in the image contradicts his earlier statement that he is using the Federal Standard. The Federal Standard states that the handedness of the helix matches the defined handedness of polarization.

In my opinion the link to this book, at least with regards to chirality in electromagnetism, should be removed for it is only feeding the level of confusion surrounding this issue.

I have replaced the reference with one that agrees with the text of the article. Which is Talk:Polarizer/Lengthy_quotes#HANDBOOK OPTICS Volume I,Ch5 section 6 footnote
I appreciate that it does not deal with chirality and molecules but at least it is not misleading.

Also go to circular polarization#left/right for a section that is referenced and discusses the subject. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Dave3457 (talkcontribs) 20:44, 17 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

No discussion kept about electromagnetic fields other than waves.[edit]

Everything about interaction of electricity and magnetism (other-than electromagnetic wave) , is clear-cut chiral. So, it requires a discussion to improve this article. In addition, the relation of electric-current and magnetic field , Fleming's left-hand rule for motors and Fleming's right-hand rule (for generators) are exactly 2 opposite (mirror-image like) situations. It should be mentioned.

As well as charged-particle deflection path in magnetic field is chiral.

Path of a charged particle in magnetic field

So, this should also be discussed under this heading of Chirality(Electromagnetism)
