Infection[edit]

I think it was a bowel infection, not a bowl infection. This ABC article states it as bowel and bowl does not make sense to me. Chris857 (talk) 03:12, 1 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Other sources suggest that he suffered from necrotizing fasciitis and septic shock, which is much more likely to be the result of a bacterial than a viral infection. (Viremia can, in rare cases, result in septic shock; I've never heard of virally-caused necrotizing fasciitis, although I realize this is an odd case of immunocompromise.) I suspect that paralympic.org.au has screwed up their medical facts, not unlike the spelling of "bowel". Choess (talk) 02:54, 1 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
