WikiNotability[edit]

Dr Lattner's Notability-in-Wikipedia's-sense comes from his work on LLVM and clang (both of which he designed). While LLVM is already significant (=WikiNotable), mainly in Apple Inc software, it will become much, much more significant over the next few years. When clang is finished, it will also be very, very significant to programmers worldwide; it may even displace gcc in many projects.

Recognizing this impending importance, various computer magazines, journals and news-sites have carried articles about LLVM/clang, interviews with Dr Lattner, etc. So there is no shortage of good secondary sources about LLVM and clang. However, I have not been able to find any good secondary sources about Dr Lattner himself (as opposed to his projects). So I guess we'll have to put up with a stub-class article here until a Reliable Source does a profile of Dr Lattner.

Getting back to the question of WikiNotability, 3 items from WP:CREATE apply here:

regarded as an important figure
known for originating a significant technique (actually, two significant software systems)
created, or played a major role in co-creating, a significant and well-known work that has been the subject of multiple independent periodical articles or reviews

Orphaned references in Chris Lattner[edit]

I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of Chris Lattner's orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.

Undisclosed paid editing[edit]

The recent updates to the article look an awful lot like undisclosed paid editing to me - I'm afraid I can't go into more detail. The article is currently very reliant on references to press releases and primary sources and needs cleanup before the flag is removed. SmartSE (talk) 10:36, 13 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
