untitled[edit]

The current page is called The Church of 'St Margaret, Bowers Gifford', when searching the church it comes up as 'St Margaret's, Bower Gifford', could it be possible to change to this new title

I don't think it would be a good idea to omit the word "church" from the title, as this wouldn't be consistent with the many other articles we have on similar churches. The two options would be appear to be either St Margaret's Church, Bowers Gifford or the current title of Church of St Margaret, Bowers Gifford. There is no convention on Wikipedia for which form to use, neither is there any consistency, with our numerous church articles split either way, often apparently without rationale. Regarding this specific church, there doesn't appear to be an official name (The parish website uses the former and Historic England uses the latter). We should perhaps than be guided by WP:COMMONNAME, but I'm not sure it's clear which name is most commonly used in reliable sources. In such a case per WP:TITLECHANGES we should perhaps only consider a change if it can be shown there some good reason to do so, otherwise another editor could come along and just as feasibly argue for the reverse.----Pontificalibus 06:32, 3 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
