Done. The out-of-universe material looks pretty good (although it could be firmed up I'm sure - there are a tonne of external links and they must be useful for this) but the actual plot is devoid of even primary sources so it isn't clear what happened when or where. Plot Summary piecemeal clean-up[edit]

The plot summary seems to have been written as issues came out, without being devided to designate them. That beign the case, there are many uses of terms like "Most recently" "currently" "As x does x" that imply an unknown conclusion that is later shown to be known. I've have changed a small bit regarding the hulk rampage though Las Vegas in New Avengers Illuminati Special Shield Tell Iron Man that 26 people 2 kids and a dog was killed in the plot summary it only had 26 people and 2 kids killed BrianBoulnois (talk) 21:28, 18 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Cultural references[edit]

Shouldn't this article have a "Cultural references" section? Unlike most super heroe stories, which simply have references to previous super heroe stories, this one (either the main comic book or the relaed ones) are full of cultural references. The 9/11 attacks and how american society reacted to it, the Guantanamo Bay, the american civil war, the assasination of Lee Harvey Oswald, emigration for political reasons, a cameo of George W. Bush, the crossing of the Rubicon (both in a figurated and literal sense), the help of jailed criminal Lucky Luciano to prevent a Nazi infiltration in the US during WWII, and so on... not to mention that self references (meaning, references to other events from within the Marvel Universe) are also important, and span from recent things such as the young avengers to distant ones as the death of Gwen Stacy.

Comic tie-ins - Incomplete, and not in read order[edit]

This section states at the top "(This list is in read order)". However, having been reading through the comics in the order of the list, I've found this to be not only untrue, but also discovered that the list is incomplete. For a start, it doesn't even include Civil War #7. It then has Wolverine #48 before Civil War #6, even though it is an epilogue to the Civil War. It also doesn't include Fantastic Four #542 or #543. It also has Amazing Spider-Man #536 before Civil War #6, even though an editor's note in the comic states "Pick up civil war #5 and #6 to fill the gap". There have also been a number occasions where I've read a comic and the events seem to have appeared completely out of place in the overall timeline (like Sue walking out on Reed in one comic, and then being with him for the entirety of a comic later on in the 'read order').

Now, I know there is a lot of overlap between the comics, and some (such as the Wolverine story line) are more loosely related to the overall story than others; however, there do seem to be some glaring errors, and omissions. Having not had access to all the comics, I cannot attempt to put the list in the correct order; however, is Wikipedia even the place to attempt such a thing? I think, at most, a list should be given in release order, as this is factual, and non-disputable. I'm yet to find an official or definitive read order, if one does exist, from a reliable source, then I feel it could be included, with reference given; however, if no such list does exist, then doesn't any read order fall into the field of "primary research", and as such outside of the scope of Wikipedia?

What is clear, for the moment because I'm still reading the complete series, is that Civil War #4 must be before Civil War: X-Men #2 and Cable & Deadpool #31, since they talk and show scenes happened in Civil War #4. Orphaned references in Civil War (comics)[edit]

I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of Civil War (comics)'s orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.

This article is largely breathless blow-by-blow plots and endless explanations of all the mind-numbing details that were changed each time the story is revisited in another format.
