Rape?[edit]

I've never known that Claude Frollo tried to rape/sexually assault Esmeralda.

Racial slur usage[edit]

It seems wildly inappropriate how many times this article uses the term "gypsy" and "gypsies" rather than the proper term "Romani". "Gypsy" is a racial slur!

Suitability[edit]

Should an article on this fictional character contain a summary of nearly the whole work that he appears in? Does each character in a fictional work warrant his/her own article?

Even if the answer to both these questions is yes, this article needs serious work, as the summary seems to be based on the disney version of the story. This is another reason why such a summary seems to me to be a bad idea. Should we have summaries of every variation? I think not. But if we are to have any summary at all, it should be on the original work, not some poor, disneyfied substitute. Dmw 06:25, 18 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The reason for this article being based on the Disney version of the story is because the article was originally for the Disney villian Frollo, not the character from the original story. Some one decided to mess it up and combine the two. I don't know who it was. Jeez, if they did that, at least they could've changed the summary. I was the one who re-wrote the summary (a while ago) into the version on the article now. Since the two have been combined now, I don't see an issue with you re-writing it. I think You and me are pretty much the only people who pay attention to and "Watch" this article anyway. Majinvegeta

LUST[edit]

It should be noted that although lust plays a heavy part in his actions, moreover he finds himself distraught over love for Esmeralda as well.

Frollo Inverted Hearts Picture[edit]

If Gaston has a Kh:Ih picture, then why doesn't Frollo have one? Please post one if you find it.

There is no Frollo Inverted Hearts photo, but he is on the game. But you shouldn't take Inverted Hearts that seriously. It's a fan product.
Yes it is basically fan fiction in game form. Besides Tony Jay is dead sadly, and it would be hard to get him anyway. Its too bad, he had a great voice.
Still, if Frollo is on a KH Game (Frollo, Gaston and The Horned King are many candidates to appear on one), maybe they'll get Jim Cummings or Corey Burton to de a replacement. But, of course, it won't be the same without Tony Jay.
Well i'm guessing if they were to put Frollo in Kingdom Hearts, they could just sample older dialogue for the movie plot, and have him without a voice actor for the rest of the game. I know it sounds crazy but i'm guessing it could work.71.228.22.48

NOOOOOOOOO[edit]

Why god why ? Why did Tony Jay have to die ?

He had cancer and died. It's the natural process of life.
I knew that. I just want to know how he got the cancer.
His diet? His sexual life? It could have been anything. I feel just as disappointed as you, but I have accepted the fact that Tony Jay lived his life and succumbed to death. It happens to everyone. Jienum 22:06, 3 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Just a thought[edit]

The last part of this article seemed exteremly choppy. Short sentences with sudden pauses, I didn't like It. So I fixed. Majinvegeta

Original character[edit]

This article needs to have more information on the original character the movie was based on. --DrBat 13:37, 29 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Agree, there actually isn't an article on Wikipedia of the Disney character Quasimodo, only on the one from the original book. Majinvegeta

fictional narcissists[edit]

fictional narcissists? i don't think so, remove that, please. narcissism in his own words would be "evil"

He did a lot of things that were evil, and most of them worse than narcissism. --DrBat 03:31, 30 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Separate page for Disney character[edit]

I have created a separate page for the Disney character (Claude Frollo (Disney adaptation)) and added some words on the Frollo of the novel. It was kind of weird that the article on a major character of a classic work of European literature would consist entirely of the discussion of a character in a very free film adaptation of the original novel... ~~Lumendelumine Jan 13 2007, 16.42 UTC~~

Thank you; it was for the best, really. Hades has his own article after all, so this is the best movie to make. I've already begun work on the Disney character's article, including rewriting the History section and adding a template, so it should be alright. Nqnpipnr 03:21, 15 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Adaptations (table)[edit]

Since appearantly the character who is the villain varies from adaptation to adaptation, I added a column to the "Adapations" table to clarify things. Maybe other info should be added to the table too. I mean: the table only shows the "villain" character for each adaptation. But maybe the table should also mention who plays the Deacon, for those versions in which the Deacon is not the villain? Greetings, RagingR2 14:44, 24 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Question[edit]

  • Can someone verify for me whether he is "Judge Claude Frollo" as he is in the film? If so, he could be added to "Fictional judges". Not050 (talk)Not050Not050 (talk) —Preceding comment was added at 20:26, 24 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
    • No, he was not a judge in the book. --MentosC (talk) 02:50, 5 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Persecutions[edit]

I removed that part in the intro which stated Frollo was "famous for persecution of gypsies". This article should foccus on the book, not on the Disney character. I read this book many years ago, but I remember well that Frollo was in no way as powerful as Disney made him. Saying that he was famous in persecuting gypsies would implie he had the power to do so, but in the book he is more a recluse church guy than a judge that could order the persecution and death of people, as Disney made him. Also, it should be noted that Frollo was the only person to show compassion to the deformed gypsy baby Quasimodo, when he was abandoned by his own people, which also abducted Esmeralda in his place. Disney made severe simplifications of such a complex character, probably because they wanted a complete villain. In the movie he was even the person responsible for Quasimodo been orphaned, and adopted him unwilingly. With this plot distorcion, Disney also could make the gypsies as complete victims, instead of having a victim group who actually does some pretty bad things (like kidnaping babies). All this simplifying the non-manicheist vision of the book into a manicheist one. For conclusion, my point is that we can't call Frollo a "famous persucuter" unless we are talking about the Disney's movie, as well as some other adaptations. Therefore, such things must be written only in the movie section of the article. Of course, I am open to debate over this matters.189.90.124.88 (talk) 01:42, 22 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
