Corporate junk=[edit]

This page is almost entirely void of encyclopaedic content. It reads like a junior member of the company's own marketing team has written it: amateurish, heavy with irrelevant detail and entirely uninteresting. Please can someone with sailing knowledge trim it right down and improve it by adding something about boats or racing. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 92.233.116.13 (talk) 23:37, 11 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @Curb Safe Charmer: Apologies for re-updating my edit. I didn't get the notification that you had undone it. And I certainly don't mean to cause any irritation. Please accept the sincerity. Just as a further clarification, the deleted sentence doesn't belong in an encyclopaedic article about the race, plus it's not verifiable. Should you still feel strongly about it, please feel free to undo again. Thanks! HeadwayNL (talk) 13:04, 25 September 2019 (UTC)headwayNL[reply]

Clean up[edit]

Most of the History seems to read like it is a cut and paste from the clipper website. This needs cleaned up and I'll try and start - there seems to be a lot of uncited facts as well Abz zeus (talk) 22:40, 17 March 2011 (UTC) Started clean up, found source for history http://www.archiveclipper0910roundtheworld.com/index.php/about_us/story_so_far Abz zeus (talk) 00:17, 18 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Have made major inroads into the cleanup. Hopefully no pertinent facts have been lost in the process. Text based on Clipper Ventures marketing material had stated that Ariel won the original tea clipper race but according to the Wikipedia article, it didn't! You should know about this and comment. One of our editors has systematically depopulated it (perhaps from this article among many others), and thinks that is a good reason to delete it.

International cities/varying organisations[edit]

"yachts sponsored by international cities as well as yachts sponsored by varying organisations." What is an "international" city, and what is a "varying" organisation? The latter I shall read as "various", but what makes some cities international and some not evades me. 31.48.245.109 (talk) 09:50, 21 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

The 2000 race introduced naming the yachts after UK cities (plus Jersey, neither part of the UK nor a city, but close enough). In 2002, three of the yachts were named after international cities (Cape Town, Hong Kong and New York) and this is when Clipper Ventures started referring to them as such.
