"The derivative term is used to provide damping or shaping of the response". It is NOT the case
The derivative terms have a higher gain to fast changes in the difference signal, promoting a fast recovery of the system.
there is no damping effect of the derivative term, just the opposite. Milton (talk) 23:11, 25 August 2023 (UTC)
Integral term[edit]
"The integral term permits the rejection of a step disturbance" is NOT true.
The integral term accumulates the error, so the output goes to the set point.
