Untitled[edit]

I took out the part about GHB and Rohypnol being date rape drugs as it has nothing to do with anything and Rohypnol isn't even a club drug to begin with - it's a benzodiazepan pharmaceutical that's hardly associated with clubs and discos!

Also took out the "could be called a 'designer drug'" bit because that (and, frankly, so is date-rape-drug) is not a real pharmaceutical category in any meaningful or helpful sense. It's more of a popular media buzzword. I also added a couple of examples of club drugs and their general effects.

I just made a pretty major revision it needs checked over and cited however especially in regard to actual usage patterns. I think my change is useful however in pointing out how misleading the term club drug is.

It also looks like some one should do some research into the history of the term club drug as it is now used. Lonjers 20:31, 14 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Where are we going with this? A club drug is what they call drugs people tend to use in clubs, mostly pills. What else needs to be done? I mean, can we transwiki to wikitionary or merge somewhere useful? 66.41.66.213 04:47, 4 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Revert[edit]

HI Alanaparker97. Welcome to Wikipedia! One of the pillars of Wikipedia is that information should be verifiable (WP:V) so we need to provide reliable sources for the information we add. It looks like you're sourcing your information from some government agencies which are probably reliable sources. I don't think the parenthetical references are enough for the average reader to identify the source. Could you add more identifying information? Wikipedia has citation templates in the editor you can use (Cite -> Template -> select source type from menu). Even placing some additional info in some reference tags after a statement would help (<ref>Citation information in here</ref>). DMT[edit]

Does it make sense to mention DMT as a club drug example? I think it's a way too intense hallucinogenic to fit in a highly crowded setting like a club party or a rave. I have been at a lot of partys (in Germany) and I have seen people doing a lot of drugs there but DMT use here seems to be limited to unofficial Goa clubs (which belong to the local underground rave scene, not to the commercial club environment). "norcanon" (sic)[edit]

Since sources are supposed to be reliable, and n-A-rconon are basically part of the scientology cult\not cult (delete as appropriate for your country), can we accept anything from them as reliable source material? That aside, the link is to source material that is just plain wrong ; stating that ecstasy is addictive, for example. It isn't. Check the mdma wiki page or any of the other related wiki pages that ARE referencing medically accurate sources, if you doubt my word. The name Narconon wasn't even correctly spelled here. Shocking. I've removed the reference to them, and the link. This may mean it will now require some more proper references, which won't be a bad thing overall. Page needs serious revision[edit]

Whole page is full of mentions of things already correctly placed on the "urban legends about drugs" page. Spurious kneejerk nonsense twisted by a thousand retellings into a load of preposterous bollocks. Excuse my language, but there is no excuse for tripe like this.
