Symbolism[edit]

Isn't that eagle a bit Slavic or Germanic? Most Islamic nations have a crescent moon in their heraldry... what's the story on this? Sweetfreek 02:41, 10 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Not really -- the "hawk of Qureish" and "eagle of Saladin" have been standard pan-Arabic symbols from the 1950's on... AnonMoos 11:22, 22 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Coat of arms of Palestine → Coat of arms of the State of Palestine – Proposing the rename in line with the official transition of the Palestinian National Authority symbols into State of Palestine symbols as a consequence of President Mahmud Abbas' order of January 2013. Furthermore, the official use of Coat of Arms of State of Palestine seems to have become almost universally adopted in Palestinian institutions (see President Office,Ministry of Foreign Affairs,Ministry of Health). A previous discussion on this matter took place in February 2013, then Coat of arms of the Palestinian National Authority was moved to current naming, but we have since moved into a much broader use of the State of Palestine concept (which urged moving article Palestine to Palestine (region) in 2015 move) GreyShark (dibra) 17:21, 23 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

except the fact that the article about Islamic Republic of Iran is Iran, but the article about Palestinian state is State of Palestine. Oppose move, but split article. The current name is ambiguous (but can be solved with a hatnote), and the current article includes two coats of arms. I'd prefer splitting Emblem of the Palestine Liberation Organization off from the current article. ONR (talk) 05:16, 26 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Or->Argent?[edit]

Current blazon: Tierced per pale Vert Or and Sable in chief a pile Gules The centre pale (vertical stripe) looks to me to be Argent (white) rather than Or (yellow). Is this a mistake with the image or with the blazon? (likewise, the eagle looks Argent rather than Or) Pseudomonas_(talk) 11:27, 13 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

The blazon of the shield is certainly incorrect. The eagle is golden in some versions of the coat of arms and greyish in others. If it were white (argent), you couldn't see it! AnonMoos (talk) 07:11, 15 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
